This is the best news I've heard in ages.

“.. a stunning comeback, sealed late as voters in Lula’s northeastern stronghold rallied behind one of Latin America’s most prominent opponents of Trumpism.” @bloomberg.com 🇧🇷 www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

If you didn't watch this report on Ch4 News the other day, I urge you to. Excellent reporting.

Time to manage expectations? I thought it all looked too good to be true.

That could be bad news for Democrats in a year when the Senate is decided by red states. If polling errors follow the average historic trend, Democrats' leads in Texas and Alaska could be wiped out while Iowa and Kansas move firmly into the Republican column www.economist.com/graphic-deta...

This is a low key tragedy. A broad consensus torched by a handful of ideologues and opportunists who do not even understand what net zero target is and why it was adopted. The reality is temperatures will continue to spiral until we reach net zero or civilisation collapses, whichever comes first.

New post from me at @deltapoll.bsky.social on declining support for the net zero by 2050 law: deltapoll.co.uk/net-zero-los...

This story is bringing back some very bad memories of when we got trapped in Dubai after our plane was turned back from landing in Islamabad. We had a toddler and a baby with us....also BA, who also basically abandoned us

sarah jeong@sarahjeong.bsky.social

lol my flight got diverted because of a medical emergency and they landed us in reykjavik in the middle of the night and deplaned us and sent us through passport control and then the crew vanished and then british airways sent us links to book an overnight hotel room but for a hotel at heathrow

This is what Farage has said he wants to bring to the UK....

The horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning. As the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law.

While Piddington dominates the news, at Leicester Crown Court this man was sentenced today Ivan Jennings, a former Conservative councillor, called for terror attacks on small boat migrants and Muslims and shared target ideas, telling fellow white supremacists to kill as many “subhumans” as possible

Finally someone speaking some truth.

For over a year, Canada has worked intensively and in good faith with the United States to negotiate a new comprehensive trade deal. We have been pragmatic, patient, and persistent. Our goal has always been to get the best deal for Canadians, never a deal at any price or on any time frame.

I'm more worried about these crew, who have nothing to do with the insane policies of an insane president running an insane government. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/a...

The Odyssey made a billion dollars telling the story of a soldier who went to war and desperately wanted to come home. Meanwhile, actual US sailors have been at sea for 200+ days, and some are throwing themselves overboard. BRING. THEM. HOME.

Incredible. When E—n M—k & his crew obliterated USAID in a weekend, they deleted a vast trove of publicly-funded knowledge: the Development Experience Clearinghouse. A Canadian high school student (!) happened to have downloaded the entire thing for a project. AidData has now posted it for all.

aiddata.orgBefore reimagining development data, remember what we’ve learnedWhy we’re publishing a free, searchable, and ungated archive featuring a quarter-century of USAID evaluation reports.

I can think of no better way to summarize the way the world works today.

(I get that Bluesky is very obviously the Wow We Loved Lockdowns website but I think it's absolutely fine, five years after the fact, to wonder if we got the balance right between "protecting older people" and "making sure younger people weren't getting entirely shafted", arguments are allowed)

I tend to agree with this. In particular how we all seem to be living like it never happened. Especially hard for our youngsters who have potentially been damaged in ways we have yet to understand.
