the actual American centrist compromise position is “tax the billionaires to fund the military” and that’s like…considered progressive

HOLY SHIT. In a sworn statement yesterday, an ICE agent told a federal judge that an ICE flight to Equatorial Guinea had been cancelled and so couldn't be used to bring Ahmed Soliman back to the United States. The plane just landed in Equatorial Guinea. prospect.org/2026/10/23/t...

I’m not at all dismissing the harms of distracted driving but could we maybe focus the anti-Trump employee coverage on how they are choosing to work for the concentration camp government

L.A. Material@lamaterial.com

JUST IN: President Trump’s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, has been busted at least twice in Southern California for driving while using her phone. Read Tomo Chien and @matt-hamilton87.bsky.social’s full story: buff.ly/W0pEHYF

like I guess could get behind this as a story if the frame was “this woman thinks people should be put in concentration camps for violating civil codes but breaks traffic laws with abandon” but headlining basically “she texts and drives” cmon. she’s dumb goebbels, I think that’s the focus

yesterday I came home from work and my bf informed me he had noticed my fridge’s water filter needed changing so had ordered a new one and put it on a 6 month recurring subscription and I must say that might have been the most romantic thing anyone’s ever done for me

I have experienced the big teen movie romantic gestures too but at 32 I think I am old enough to understand the water filter thing is arguably more tender

I am entirely serious when I say that this should be seen as a moderate position. It specifically and surgically dismantles institutions that did not exist pre-9/11 and assigns their functions much as they were assigned pre-9/11.

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

I truly cannot think of a reason to live stream an execution other than continued normalization of the government killing people such that they don’t have to bother hiding their violence anymore

not to imply that it’s all that hidden—but there has been a real attempt to shift process of disappearances of immigrants following blowback beginning of this year, and this feels like a recalibration attempt

my bf is a prof at an R1 in a red state and asked to talk through how to bring up the Cornell 7 in class this week and make clear he is someone who is in his students’ corner and we ended up brainstorming how to make clear his allyship includes not just women but any student unsafe in the USA 1/

this is very lovely and I adore him and also I cannot shake the frustration of knowing he is likely the only straight white male prof at his giant school who will make any effort to make his students feel seen this week despite it costing him literally nothing and probably meaning quite a lot 2/

I suppose this is a gentle call-in for each of us in positions of privilege to think through the very small things we can do to make places much safer for everyone else. it’s usually as simple as saying hey, I have a lot of privilege, and I want to be clear that I will use it on your behalf

hilarious to me when politicians are accused of pandering to the base. we’ve strayed so far from god’s light that it’s now a diss to point out that government officials are doing things that the people who elected them want them to do

i think enough people remember stimulus checks and associate them with Trump that coming online to preemptively call people idiots for believing he might cut a check is perhaps not the move

the DNC has apparently told him that so long as this is his team name it is ok to have Deshaun Watson as QB?

last weekend i got into an actual argument about organizing tactics - like, RAISED VOICES argument - with a friend/fellow organizer who i respect deeply. multiple times, i or someone else unsuccessfully tried to deflate the tension/agree to disagree/move on. went for like 20-30 minutes. 1/

anyway, it made me think about how rarely i dig my heels in these days, especially when disagreeing with someone i generally trust and align with, bc everything seems so urgent (also bc i am an overwhelming person to argue with lol). tbh think it has been bad for my organizing and understanding. 4/

all to say tactics and ideas MATTER, and disagreement is not only natural but deeply important. we debriefed more the next day and both agreed it kind of rocked. many caveats, esp when digging heels in as a particularly privileged person, but with all the caveats: consider digging ur heels in more

and then, toward the end of the argument, my friend and i both frustrated to the point of bright-red-cheeks from the inability to align or convince the other, she exhaled and said, "oh wait i've realized what i actually disagree with you about," and dug in on a different-but-interconnected issue 2/

and she convinced me on that point, which i hadn't been considering, and acknowledged that the points i'd been arguing were kind of separate and made sense, and we both understood each other so much better and emerged with deeper trust and new lenses and more alignment. 3/

shameful to watch people call themselves progressive while fearmongering during historically low crime rates to try to give more money to a police department that goes tens of millions of dollars over budget every year. this is not a subtweet it’s about Alexi www.wbez.org/criminal-jus...

I do not say this lightly—I think Gillian is probably the most important person you could follow on this app and also just in general. doing more than anyone I can think of to keep focus on the admin sending people to gulags

Two ICE charter jets operated by Journey Aviation pass one another in the air — one having just finished deporting people to Sierra Leone and Benin, the other heading to Senegal for a fuel stop and crew change before expelling shackled people to god knows where.

got to go to the inaugural daisy chain fields yesterday and when I tell you it was both incredible and a powerful reminder that many rich and powerful people are acting like they can’t do shit and FULL OF IT…Olivia Rodrigo is the moment, we are so lucky to have her I stg

Looks like we’re using Gitmo to imprison immigrants again. This is an ICE charter airline owned by ICE’s flight broker using the callsign they use for all their ICE flights.

i started doing this a few years ago, but when someone shares with me that they have lost a loved one (recently or ages ago or anything in between), I like to ask if there’s a story or something about the person they don’t get to share often bc people don’t know how to respond to mentions of death.

this Q has never landed any way other than with a sigh of relief and genuine gratitude to get to talk about their memories—and it’s really cool to hear what’s shared. had a similar convo yday and it occurred to me that this is a simple suggestion that many could use. my friend’s dad was cool asf

NEW FROM ME: The US Air Force has done dozens of secret ICE flights to Honduras since early June, in the largest and most regular use of their aircraft in Trump's second term. Read it here now, or read it in NYT six months from now. gillianbrockell.com/the-air-forc...

gillianbrockell.comThe Air Force has been doing secret ICE flights to Honduras for monthsAt least some of the flights were third-country removals, human rights group says.

the firing of top brass was to ensure a completely loyal military in case Trump decides he doesn’t want to leave office, and everything else is a side effect. we understand this, right? “side effect” here not to minimize, but I just want to check that we’re all aware?

Cheeky Alpha Monkey@alpha-aurora.bsky.social

The Navy is lying about the conditions on board the USS Abraham Lincoln as well as the suicide attempts, Kegseth needs to go, the firing of all top brass who took their jobs seriously and had professional integrity is the reason for this abuse now by this admin, this is a volunteer force, shameful🤬

Nick is the hero who recorded thousands of his immigrant neighbors in Minnesota being loaded onto ICE flights, pushing airport officials to do more. And he FOIA'd the video of Liam Ramos and his dad being smuggled to a Texas family jail on a Delta flight. If I lived in Burnsville, he'd have my vote.
