What I've said to my team this morning - 🧵 {...} Some of us probably woke up this morning thinking "What's the point?" - and maybe have a sense of dissociation with what we have on our plate.

Worth mentioning that in Europe, Japan, and many other countries, firing someone for protected speech outside of work would be absolutely illegal and would expose the employer to all sorts of liabilities.

Getting sick of the term “political violence” when a public figure closely aligned w/one ideology or other is a victim. ICE is also political violence. Armies are also political violence. Not sure of my point - just wish for a term that doesn’t immediately wall an act like this off from all the rest

not to harp on about this, but tens of thousands of people have lost their jobs since the last “haha ai is shit” report your personal opinions aside, it’s impacting our industry dramatically and we need to respond appropriately

we had the same thing this time last year — a report came out that AI was useless, by a group that directly benefits from gen ai. stocks went down, we all patted ourselves on the back, then the news changed again and stocks rocketed back up. those who paid for the reports made out like bandits.

Big news, friends! Next week we’re officially announcing our studio and revealing our very first game!!! We’ve been pouring our hearts into: the world’s first single-player roguelike fighting game!

Finally deactivated my X/twitter account. I have stirring away from most social media apps, but holy fuck - that place became 4chan on steroid. So long, and thank you for all the fish.

I am 100% FOMO-ing not being at GDC this year. The urge to take my car, drive up to SF, and spend some time with y'all would be the closest thing to group therapy a cathartic episode in those fucked up times. A memento from my last GDC in 2023 with the other French producer in North America.

I had a great week off, didn’t do much besides reviewing games for the BAFTA’s. But sure enough, stupid brain was wide awake at 4am, and I left the studio at 10pm. My ass is gonna stay single for a while with that work life balance I’m telling ya.

I finally found time to play Phantom Liberty (and replayed the main story of course). Still going through the feelings and how fantastic of an expansion it was to Cyberpunk 2077. The noire espionage as a genre in Night City was “mwah” 🤌🏻

First time since January that I am allowing myself to take a week off starting… NOW I will be in a self induced coma and will attempt a full week of sleep. Slack notifications can fuck off.

I often think about my response to a Sr. PM who was panicking at the quantity and lack of regression of P1 bugs just a few months before shipping. Me, very nonchalant, very French: "If everything is a P1, nothing is a P1" I've never witnessed a soul leaving a person's body this fast.

We had 5 different levels of priority for our bugs - and we had a studio manager who was bypassing our guidelines for any bugs that he couldn't square. I wouldn't give any deity figure this level of authority.

People will need and seek refuge, a safe place from a dystopic/bleak reality. The world will always need great stories in dire times, a world, universe, and story to lose themselves in - and I, for one can't wait for this audience to discover what you have built together - as a team.

Your work on the floor is a testimony, a beacon of light for when shit gets hard, or when everything feels like working against us. And no matter how hard it got, how defeated we may have felt, you all have stand as one, helping one another, and that's fucking comforting to me. ❤️

Regardless of your political beliefs, background, or nationality, I want you to find solace in knowing that our work goes beyond politics. We make games, we are entertainers and storytellers, and we have one unique game in our hand, one that I know will be praised, and visually stun our audience.
