One of the greatest to ever do it and one of the nicest. The AC remembers voice actor Eric Bauza, who lent his talents to modern-day Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, & other iconic animated characters. Bauza had joined us many times over the years, including the COYOTE VS. ACME premiere.

King Tides are actually kind of insanely cool. the force vectors of the sun and the moon are aligned because the moon is full, and it's at the closest point of its orbit so the force is higher than usual. Unfortunately all that cool math also means we're underwater now

Sunny day flooding in San Francisco amid the city’s highest October tide on record.

very sad about the passing of Eric Bauza. 46 is way too young, and he seemed like such a bright soul. Condolences to all his friends and colleagues - may he rest in peace.

very much looking forward to this

Today’s the 5th anniversary @eidosmontreal.com’s awesome Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, so to celebrate, I had a fun chat with Star-Lord himself Jon McLaren. He discussed favourite memories from the game, its enduring popularity, his streaming journey and what makes Canadian artists so special.

80.6% complete on Castlevania. Thus far I've gotten by without looking anything up but to finish it out I suppose I might need to get out a spreadsheet and check stuff off. It's really quite a good little metroidvania though, really enjoying it

the narrative conceit in Belmont's Curse is really smart. a clear set of gameplay expectations, created immediately, and a method to deliver interesting dialogue at any point of the game, rolled into one

Heidi Wong's Halloween costume (instagram) is as the Shimmer from the Annihilation movie, with a purse using my novel. Really clever, looks good affixed to the purse.

the magic of BioWare games is this kind of gestalt emotional impact from every part of the game. You mostly can't look at any one conversation or any one moment and say "See, if you put THIS in a game, the game is good." It's a type of quality that emerges greater than the sum of its parts.

I could go on for all their games probably. Maybe there's one exception somewhere. But really the special sauce was in both recognizing the impact of honoring the narrative impulses of the player, and then in developing games in a way that made honoring those impulses even possible (it's Herculean)

Even as, as an industry, we mourn the loss of a legendary studio and the mistreatment of the workers who made it what it is - I hope we can commit to learning how they did this impossibly difficult thing, time and time again.

BG1: Ok sure you're fighting an evil warrior inside a crypt, that's neat. But it's Sarevok, your half-brother who killed your adopted father and whose murderous rampage across the Sword Coast you've been opposing for a hundred hours? Now it's a 10/10.

Mass Effect 1: Ok sure you're a cool space warrior. But you got to write the character's story along with the game, and the game responded to your choices by honoring them and making them feel impactful? now it's a 10/10

Looking for game devs who have been directly inspired by anything BioWare for my next video. I suspect the public likely doesn’t quite realize the extent of their influence on the industry, so I’d really like to highlight that. If you are one such game devs, pls reply to this post!
