2026 "games what I did done finished" thread! WINDSWEPT, a homage to Donkey Kong Country, developed by WeatherFell. I think this is much better than most of the DKC games, save for Tropical Freeze maybe? It's just bursting with secrets and challenges. Devilish but I enjoyed it a lot.

Uchikoshi!!!!! suck my dick from the back old man!!! ugh

John Michonski@john.gamesline.net

Reading this Famitsu interview Uchikoshi did and it seems that the reason the Crash Keys game was canceled was because *Uchikoshi* wanted to use AI, not the publisher. This snippet is driving me nuts. Makes all the posturing with Hundred Line read extremely shallow.

Not only an incredible talent, but a rare talent who also thought it was funny to just voice random memes every once in a while

Unbelievable loss. An amazing talent, and just a really, really good person. www.instagram.com/p/De8RFy4pyov/

An extremely unsatisfying fact about Super Mario Bros. Wonder is that the Wonder Flower that references Super Mario 64 by playing a remix of the Metallic Mario theme from that game... is the 65th Wonder Flower in the game, not the 64th.

Still can’t get over the H3 podcast crew going “WE ARE SAFE!!!” in their announcement about quitting the show. Safe from what lmao. Sorry for dramaposting

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

I've been seeing people complaining about the changes at EA being "maximizing money for shareholders", and it feels like a nitpick, but literally I don't think post-buyout EA is "about" shareholders. I think literally we're looking at some very complicated financial act most akin to money laundering

it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that

Look Outside is on my Halloween playthrough list already but *what do you mean* it's by one of the developers of Barkley Shut Up and Jam Gaiden

Why do we keep on doing this? Praising a 'small core team' for a game with 1100+ people in the credits is incredibly misleading. This PR narrative hurts, hides the massive shadow workforce of outsourced developers and testers, and sets impossible standards for actual indie teams.

GamesIndustry.biz@gibiz.bsky.social

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

Repost if $30k would change your life right now

Matt Darling@besttrousers.bsky.social

I don't think $30k is a life-changing amount of money. Median American born in 1980 will have $2m in income in their lifetime. It's a 1% increase in earnings.

I've said it in other words but Angeline era is about the joy of walking into a costco and seeing this and moving on with your life, while checklistvanias feel a bit more like checking off all the food stalls to eat at in a disneyworld

🧚ANGELINE ERA!!👼🏼 Now Out!@angelineera.bsky.social

Thank you! We deliberately designed AE to contrast against the checklist-focused exploration of metroidvanias, in favor of something less guided, and more about players making meaning from "being in the middle of what is happening in the world even if confused" vs. "uncovering what happened"

I'm saying this mostly because I feel extremely weird posting on here like everything is normal, BUT: I lost my job last week. Made redundant thanks to a pivot to AI. Very depressing. I have some temporary work lined up but all in all, it's been a rough fuckin' year. Really hope 2027 is better.

I'm sorry, an AI guy telling you "The wool is being pulled over your eyes" while simultaneously owning a huge ass yarn factory will never not be funny. You're literally part of the problem my guy.

Morgan Johnson@poormojo.bsky.social

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads
