Just catching up with this story. Turning Point UK came to my neighbourhood to “protect our kids” from drag queen storytellers at the Honor Oak pub. I don’t think people appreciate how much the English far right is tied up with Ulster Loyalism, and how dangerous this is in a time of polarisation.

"They can start cutting people's faces up. They can stab someone. They can shoot someone." EXCLUSIVE: Our hidden cameras capture the leader of Turning Point UK organising a fake rally for a foreign government and helping arrange a murder-for-hire with loyalist paramilitaries.

One for the history books, although those might not exist of course.

Currently wondering what message the UK govt thought it was sending by dressing up the Minister for Net Zero in a literal Shell logo.

Isn’t this disturbingly similar to what the UK Security Services have been sponsoring in Northern Ireland for decades?

Last week, an English person asked me if we 'have Halloween in Ireland' This is the most offensive thing that anyone has ever said.

That Great Britain and the United States denied entry to hundreds of European Jews fleeing Nazi Europe in the 1930s and 1940s is an indelible and notorious stain on their moral record. Visa denial during an ongoing genocide is no less evidently racist and no less unconscionable.

irishexaminer.comDenying visas to Palestinians in the midst of genocide is immoral and cruelOur international conference on Palestine planned for Maynooth University had to be cancelled, because Ireland's government wouldn't grant visas to Palestinians

The lineage of the current far right to fascist paramilitaries and then back to the troubles is a straight line. We explored this in our series on Combat 18 on @bloodwork.show with @garethwatkins.bsky.social. These people don’t go away, they just get repurposed

Went in to RTE news channel to see the latest on todays historic strike action. Oh look a live stream of a fucking slop sale.

Fleur Ravensbergen delivers her report on the feasibility of paramilitary tranbsition in Northern Ireland today, 28 years after the Good Friday Agreement. A Keir Starmer appointee - she's spent 13 months privileging groups who are actively recruiting, controlling and terrorising the North. [1/n]

In advance of #stpatricksday, here's a thread of essential articles about Irish stuff which you can present to international friends who wish to understand us better. First up: a tale of two Taytos, by Róisín Lanigan. www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/culture/4005...

I also wonder if this is some sort of narcissism. If people who wouldn't take feedback from people take what LLMs give them to heart without question, perhaps it's because they believe it's smarter than them, which they don't think other people can be.

This is a genuinely incredible post: comparing slavery to the liberation of the Netherlands during WWII effectively reduces Britain's centuries-long involvement in slavery and the slave trade to the act of abolition. The real problem about the legacies of empire is apparently a lack of gratitude 🫪
