lol my vile MP is now demanding that the lib dems collapse the Birmingham council power sharing agreement with the greens over the ZiR motion the reason labour can't do it themselves is because they threw a tantrum after they lost a bunch of seats due to being awful and refused to join a coalition

I'm shocked at how labour have spaffed their term in office. Too much money being donated and lobbying taking place. Its turned their collective heads.

I watched the PM on #GMB this morning & both Gillian & Kevin are right, he comes across as very likeable. But as Kevin says, he's got to walk the talk. And whether its on taxing wealth, nationalising water, an ethical foreign policy, & so on, he's given every indication he's not going to.

Seriously, if this is the best Burnham can do after months of going on about how he's going to be The Cost Of Living Prime Minister he might as well not bother. It's actually insulting to fly flags like this saving us a pittance against economic headwinds that are costing us thousands and thousands.

I've just renewed our mortgage with our fixed rate from early 2022 expiring and it's costing several hundred pounds more every month now. Our weekly shop has gone up by £200 a month too. So thank God the Chancellor is bringing in a raft of measures that will save... *checks notes* £2 per month.

So if Britain being absolutely screwed is the culmination of a Putin masterplan, are we saying 50 years of Thatcherism was a Russian plot? Because, that’s some long game, privatising everything not nailed down and giving all the money to mates of the Tories. bylinetimes.com/2022/03/08/p...

Private equity buys UK fertility clinics. PE already controls social care, hospitals, GP surgeries, dentistry, child fostering. Usual business model. High debt, quality of care declines, prices increase, high profits. When things go wrong, NHS has to step in, PE doesn't pay.

I recall near unanimity that the Speaker of the House would have to step down because had clowned himself and made a mockery of the institution, but then - as tends to happen with anything awkward - the matter was dropped like a shitty stick never mentioned again. The Speaker? Still in his job.

Again, it’s worth recalling what happened when the SNP put forward a parliamentary motion about this type of thing, which included the words “collective punishment”. Remember how all the press lads were outraged, but also very non-specific about it was that had happened and why it was bad.

McSweeney Labour tested this proposition to destruction and beyond with ceaseless upsucking to reactionary voters who hate them and will never vote for them. I imagine that whole thing taught her some pretty painful lessons about how British politics and media work, and how far the picture presented to the public reflect the actual day-to-day reality.

I don’t know folks, it seems to me that the kids might have been right about their ruling class being full of deeply racist, misogynist sex offenders. Perhaps that whole Cancel Culture panic was badly wrong, and apologies are in order? Not least because it was obviously vexatious *at the time*.
