I suspect a lot of the "parental rights" crowd are also pretending to champion "grandparents' rights" even when it blatantly contradicts "parental rights." And they won't care about the contradiction, because they don't really care about anyone's rights. And yes, this is antiqueer propaganda.

Matt Grote@dogthatbecameaguy.bsky.social

This is definitely a quiet antiqueer propaganda campaign. Nearly everyone i know who is estranged from family have a strong component of their queer identity in the narrative of why. Hiding that in the headline frames perpetrator-as-victim and opens the door to further antiqueer ideology. Mark me.

Yesterday (10/13) I, a #White man, got that $90 #Medicare #Improvement Fund #check from #Trump/#USGovernment. AFAIK the #Black woman I'm living with has yet to get a check (I normally see our mail first). Has anyone else got their check? Is anyone else seeing the pattern I just saw a tiny hint of?

Look on the bright side, folks -- at least this distraction from the Epstein files isn't likely to get as many people killed as some of their other distractions... 😒 🙄

Tommy Tuberville: Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community. It's terrifying.

Anyone ever heard of Milon's Secret Castle? I tried playing that because I was bored with Super Mario Bros, but it just never went anywhere. One big room full of stuff happening, nothing indicating progress, no sign that there even was a next stage or level, let alone how/where to get there.

No hate, no dogpiling, just curious. For me, it's Skyrim. Don't know why, considering it should be exactly my kind of game, but it just didn't click for me.

Yo, speaking of which, has anyone heard from ol' Mitch since that AP article claiming he'd phoned in (or whatever) to say he'd be voting remotely...? Any corroboration or confirmation? I should think there'd be a LOT of Republicans eager to rub it in all our meanie liberal faces...right? 😕

Schooley@schooley.bsky.social

False alarm everyone, Beth is fine.

If Bluesky is a "liberal bubble," it could be for the same reason it's a "heliocentrist bubble," an "evolutionist bubble," a "science-affirming bubble," a "non-racist bubble," a "Holocaust-affirming bubble," etc. etc. -- because we've been proven right and those who are wrong don't want to be here.

John Scalzi@scalzi.com

Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up

Also, I've seen PLENTY of what we generally call "conservatives" here: anti-vaxxers, anti-fluoridation, pro-Trump, pro-tinkle-down, pro-Musk, etc. I stopped seeing them not long after I started posting and following here; so either they all vanished, or Bluesky's algorithm doesn't send them my way.

This is the truth that refutes "conservative" "supply-side" economic dogma in its entirety. All the wealth-creation done by "entrepreneurs" was done in response to consumer demand. Denial of this truth is how we get a parasite class of techbros inflicting garbage on us and calling it "progress."

Business is not the driver of growth, customers are the drivers of growth. If customers are skint business goes bust. #newsnight

These are the same people who kept on insisting Terri Schaivo was awake and animated and talking to people right up until she was officially pronounced dead.

Morbidly a Beast ↗️@mike-steaks.bsky.social

He was cold and dead when the paramedics arrived at his home. All reports of him making statements and talking on the phone since then is part of a conspiracy to tamper with th e US Senate.

One of the things I hate about people who cry "Stop using Amazon!" is that they never have lists of resources that can replace Amazon. In that spirit, I'm going to list my favorite non-Amazon online book merchants. None of them deliver as quickly, but they are reliable. 🧵 #Booksky

This is why we need to have a Congress who will totally and unequivocally zilch all funding for this war, and never let our country be forced or dragged into a war just because one senile incompetent President started it and says we have to finish it.

Today's #WaPo has an editorial by one C. Jarrett Dieterle ("legal policy fellow at the #ManhattanInstitute"), titled "Unions are on a comeback. Americans are paying the price." Which sounds like he's trying to imply that #Unions, and #workers who want to form them, aren't American.

To Hell with the #DNC! Someone needs to remind them that the last high-profile #Democrat who "punted" on #Israel's pernicious influence on US policy LOST an important election. If they don't want to win, lets replace them with people who do. ‪@democrats.org‬ www.politico.com/news/2026/04...

I dunno, having Trump as Commander in Chief makes autonomous weapons sound like a good idea, especially if they're built by a "radical left woke company"...could they have them up and running in time to refuse to bomb Iran?

"Commander at Large?" That's not a real title in any legitimate police or military organization. I guess it's too soon to bring back "Grand Wizard"...

Until Miller’s gone these are just gestural purges to sanitize and consolidate his reign of terror.

Can we all please stop calling ICE thugs "Federal agents?" A more appropriate label is "FERAL agents."

Clickbait headline: "How Did We Go from Hunting Communists to Electing Open Socialists?" Simple: We now see that unregulated capitalism is wrong, and socialism, or at least social-democracy, is right; and that all that post-WWII anti-communist crusade was never more than a scam. Next question...?

It's only the fourth day of 2026, and the #Eagles have lost...to the #Commanders?! This is a clear sign that 2026 is gonna be a crazy year. Take nothing for granted, expect the unexpected, and don't let yourselves fall into any too-comfortable ruts or tracks. Business as usual is not an option.

This really puts Donald Trump's "character" in perspective -- not to mention the "character" of everyone else in the family he could have been spending Christmas with. Seriously, where were Uday, Qusay, Ivanka & Jared, Lara, or even Barron? Did any of them even call him?
