Talarico: Every bar has that guy. He’s loud, he’s obnoxious, he makes all the women in the bar feel uncomfortable. He hears you say your name to the bartender and then adds his drink to your tab when you’re not looking. That’s Paxton. And I don’t know about y’all, but I’m done picking up his tab.

Just how many countries does Trump want to attack? All of them?

The New York Times@nytimes.com

President Trump on Saturday threatened Nigeria with potential military action and said the U.S. might cut off aid, accusing the West African country’s government of failing to protect Christians.

The thing about Twitter/X is that it allows you to see the depth and breadth of evil and stupidity in this country. There's a reason so many support this horrible, dumb president.

Yet idiot Markwayne Mullin bullied her, condescended to her, and tried to gaslight her by lying that there was a tape of a meeting and nothing she said was true. Execrable.

Susan Monarez told a Senate committee that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. demanded she dismiss career officials without cause—and accept vaccine recommendations regardless of whether science backed them up.

I’m starting to wonder if we’ll ever learn the full truth about the Charlie Kirk assassination. The FBI and the state of Utah are anti-liberal and anti-trans. The Trump admin has a huge stake in blaming the shooting on liberal/trans activists. What an amazing distraction this has been.

Excellent Radley Balko piece. It's clear that Trump is using the National Guard and the military writ large to impose his authoritarianism on the US. Better said: Trump's a wannabe dictator, and he's using our military to achieve this end.

If Trump was smart (we all know he's not) he would have tried to rename it the Department of Peace, just to try to nail down that Nobel.

Trump: "We could've won every war, but we really chose to be very politically correct, or wokey."

If Trump did have a stroke, why is the White House covering it up? The American people have a right to know.

Constance@constancec.bsky.social

Did Trump have a stroke? I can’t think of any other explanation for what we’ve seen in the last few days.

If we don’t know about it, it can’t possibly hurt us. Until it kills us.

Breaking News: FEMA suspended about 30 employees who had told Congress that the Trump administration had gutted the nation’s emergency preparedness.

Of course not. Putin never had any intention of ending this war. Not unless Ukraine would cede lands to him. How did Trump not see that???

Trump likes to present himself as the guy who'll end the Russia-Ukraine war. He lacks that ability. The only person who can end the war is Putin, the invader.

My fellow New Yorkers: What will we do if/when Trump sends the National Guard here? Will protests be organized? I want to be prepared.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

President Trump said on Friday he was considering sending National Guard troops to cities like Chicago, New York and Baltimore. State and local leaders say they have crime under control.

Once authoritarians capture enough institutions, time is on their side, not ours. Resistance gets riskier, opposition networks weaken & the public grows used to this new way of life, until finally there is a generation that never knew true freedom. We are at the point of no return. #Resist

So, getting rid of undocumented immigrants who do much of the low-wage work here, and then passing bills and laws that make the cost of living far more expensive for all those but the super-wealthy... Is the plan to make poorer Americans a new underclass, forced to serve the rich?

If your MO is to gin up a new outrage to distract from an old outrage, at some point you’re going to run out. And when you lie about everything, the truth can't save you; it will only indict you.
