After our last post, we’ve heard from people reporting voting machine issues in South Carolina, Texas, and Tennessee. We haven’t independently verified these accounts. We also read Stella Parton’s account of having to correct her selection before casting her ballot in Tennessee.

I really enjoyed 𝘕𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘺 𝘗𝘳𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘋𝘪𝘦, but this last half of the titular song is just so different from the rest and it's my favorite part of the entire soundtrack. And Megan here has made an insanely astonishing animation of the scene that I'm compelled to share it! Works perfectly for Halloween

I animated the title song from Nerdy Prudes must die! Horror/gore/spoiler warning!

Balboa Peninsula in particular is flooding like crazy. Median house prices are ~$2,000,000. Even the ocean wants to eat the rich. What are the best gifts I can offer to Poseidon as tribute and thanks?

Newport Beach flooded two days before the storm got there. Southern California is under only its second tropical storm watch ever. The ocean was already 12 to 18 inches above normal, so high tide ran 20 inches above the charts, a record for the city. Sunday is worse.

I can't imagine how sick and twisted someone has to be to want to expose a victim's identity. Living as a survivor is already hard enough without people judging you and your experiences when they know fucking nothing about any of it. #iamjanedoe

Jane Doe does NOT need to identify herself and be put at risk, anyone digging for her info to do harm should be ashamed (at least) As a survivor, I stand with Jane and I’m happy to help flood the hashtag. #iamjanedoe

One of my million favorite things about him was that he didn't disappear after his stroke. He showed the world that people with disabilities can continue to exist and have value after their bodies and capacities change. 💔

We need to give cartoon villains cigars again. It just completes the look. (How am I supposed to know who the villain is if nobody is smoking a cigar)

Chris DeRose@scratchyderose.bsky.social

Hot take, but we need to normalize cartoon characters smoking on screen again. A. Because it adds more to their character and personality And B. Because sometimes it’s funny.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

These companies exist outside the law; vigilantism is left as the only solution in such a thoroughly corrupted system. Maybe the wicked deserve to be treated with the same contempt and hostility they've seen fit to force upon the rest of humanity?

Mounting opposition to AI has given rise to a surge of violent rhetoric, threats against people and property. The phenomenon has tech companies increasing security budgets, hiring armed guards and advising employees to hide corporate logos.

Thinking how at the end of the Star Wars trilogy an entire galaxy celebrates the death of the emperor without a finger wagging coda where a sad-eyed long haired scold in bespoke clothing warns that this reduces everyone to the same level as the genocidal tyrant who got tossed into a laser shaft.

SCP fans must remember: SCP Authors are hobbyists. Most don’t make stories for you; they write for love of the game and/or their friends. Nor do they get paid/famous. So they lack incentive to “listen to fans” the way more capitalistically inclined IPs do. (Marvel, Disney, etc)

Wow! Iran left a thank you note in their locker room thanking LA for its hospitality during the World Cup. Be sure you read the last line: “May peace, respect, and friendship prevail among all nations.” (Source: Reuters)

You are up to date.
