When we spun up the art generation machine, we got the Sistine Chapel roof, and we kickstarted an era of learning that changed Europe forever. When you spun up the art generation machine you got bad food menus and a burrito ad full of maggots. We are not the same.

imagine being a heretic AND getting zero bitches? like pick a struggle

Every other genre remains the same in terms of public perception except the first person shooter and the arcade shmup swap places

John@farawaytimes.bsky.social

imagine if arcade shmups had any mainstream cachet whatsoever, the discourse cycles would be so funny

they dont understand that my social anxiety includes talking to machines

I am convinced that the dictionary, autocorrect, and predictive text on iOS is being made as bad as possible on purpose to force people to use voice so they can use that data. It's reached the point where the iOS keyboard is unusable.

I guess my love of mmos and general categorical dislike of extraction shooters makes me the old man yelling at cloud in this, but theyre probably right.

jade@galaxii.nexus

fascinated by the league mmo stuff because they keep saying "we need an mmo to take us into the Next Age Of Gaming" like MMOs aren't the dad rock of games. inherently backwards facing genre in the modern day

the only thing that salves my loneliness is the warmth of a breakfast burrito, I will never accept the machine

Everyones talking about DLSS5 and i'm just here hoping the 40 series lasts ten years because I thought I overpaid for my 4090 and its twice as bad now.

Since we’re already talking about it, I might as well let the cat out of the bag. I’ve been thinking about doing another Anime Lockdown, but I’m not sure we’d get enough panelists to do even a half day. Last time I had to shorten the schedule due to lack of submissions.

Sometimes I kind of get the whole fandoms thing, because I’m just kind of a lonely person and common interests are one of the only ways I get social interaction with anyone. Sometimes they get weird or turn bad, though :(

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the problems with modern computers lately. The hardware is better than ever but the problem is the software. Our devices have become time vampires, designed to capture our attention, often at the expense of our mental health.

Las Vegas Fur Con: also has more sex

Schooley@schooley.bsky.social

They are absolutely trolling us now. A conference for 200 people! Or one tenth the attendance of Las Vegas Fur Con, which notably does not get a trend piece in every major publication. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/17/s...

Publisher bizdev people at events like GDC and Dice trying to sign "the next balatro" should realize that, statistically, the developer of "the next Balatro" you need to be talking to isn't at GDC or Dice talking to bizdev guys seeking 2m+ in funding

A person is smart. People are stupid. If bad thing happens, someone steps up and fixes it, people think they are a hero. If someone does a thing, spends a lot of money to prevent bad thing and successfully prevents it - in the eyes of the public they just pissed away a lot of money for 'no' reason

DAMMIT NPR. I spent nine months upgrading over TEN THOUSAND desktops at a F500 client. The grand total was over SEVENTY THOUSAND applications upgraded. Y2K "didn't live up to the hype" because the industry busted ass to duct tape everything first.

This is also why climate change is going to kill us, and this is why our society is particularly vulnerable to pandemics. Because we really hate planning ahead and being prepared. We'd rather smash the car and fix it for next time. Fixing things gives us a dopamine hit. Being prudent does not.

I sentence the yellow paint haters to an eternity of searching for DOOM exits. Hump every wall. (When it comes to "yellow paint in video games" I liked DOOM 2016's green lights)

Ok this is kinda weird I guess because it seems like something a lot of people just “know”. I have no idea what Redwall is. I just think the feasts bot posts wholesome things.

REDWALL FEASTS BOT IS HERE. I HAVE NO REASON TO RETURN TO THE DREADED OLD REALM AGAIN.

This man is your Palico. I wish I was able to finish the Osaka/Monster Hunter Vlog in time but this was the mocap stuff we saw was so impressive.

A lot of people (particularly the ones howling to make homelessness a crime) really underestimate how much it costs taxpayers to incarcerate a person for one day.

Brent Toderian@brenttoderian.bsky.social

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing. They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays. The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k. www.businessinsider.com/denver-basic...

Steam@steampowered.com

Hello to the Bluesky community! We're trundling on in with an announcement; the Steam Autumn Sale starts next Wednesday, November 27th with deals on games of all types - from games that are blue, to games that are about skies, and everything in between.

I know the Imperium from Warhammer 40K isn’t supposed to be a role model for anyone but I think they might have something with the whole forbidding of AI thing
