You have to laugh at the sheer insanity of Turning Point UK being found to be organising literal contract killings and paid agitation at protests up and down the country and it barely even raises a flicker across the press. If that isn't 'terrorism' on some level I don't really know what is

Good news! Wife's kidneys are working fine and everything else seems to be okay, so being sent home with even stronger painkillers, which will hopefully keep her comfortable enough until her stents are out tomorrow (and any residual pain from the removal)

Back in A&E for my wife, two weeks pretty much to the hour. She's due to have her kidney stents out tomorrow but she's experiencing the same pain and nausea as two weeks ago, which was when her kidneys probably were blocked.

10 years ago, Fielder sat next to me wearing a moon boot - & an elaborate story about his injury, involving an old woman & a cat. I still don't know if it was true or not. Not just the story about the how of it all – part of me suspects he wasn't even injured in the first place: www.webworm.co/naza/

Louder for the centrists in the back - the campaign against the trans community is literally killing people, people who have the same right to live as cis people

Another excellent article by @davidfarrier.com this time examining the trouble with billionaires purchasing democracy (and though he might be using one from New Zealand, it's applicable to pretty much every country)

David Farrier@davidfarrier.com

in 2000, there were 470 billionaires. in 2010, the number had more than doubled, to 1000 billionaires total. together, they controlled around $3.6 trillion in capital. for power and wealth like this, politics is less than pocket change: www.webworm.co/elections/

@davidfarrier.com has been writing incredible articles for a while now - this one is maybe not as "trending topics" as some of his recent ones, dealing with current events, but is an utterly fascinating and human look into part of the business around death. I suppose on topic for spooky season!

i set out to write a story about the private autopsy market in los angeles. i ended up taking part in one. please RT: www.webworm.co/myfirstautop...

"I stand in a room that slowly fills with the smell of iron, my mouth the taste when you floss too hard. My hands are sweating inside a pair of blue surgical gloves. It isn't all just me gawping: I'm handed a pair of pruning shears & told to cut through some ribs." www.webworm.co/myfirstautopsy

I had energy today, so rather than using it on hobby like I normally would have (and regret not doing) I decided to clear the back garden/yard thing of weeds. It was a huge job but it was something that needed doing for ages. Glad it's done but I am KNACKERED after that 😅

I've had a few accounts trying to interact with me that are either pro-Gen AI or actively producing it (and one that was "creating" NFTs)! Don't know why they think I'd be up for that but perhaps I haven't made it clear enough: I hate Generative AI, LLMs, and other such software with a passion.

Turns out it was worth us going to A&E today - wife's been admitted and will hopefully be in surgery tomorrow, kidneys weren't seeming too happy. So hopefully this will sort out the pain she's been suffering from. Cat will have to put up with just me tonight!

an amazing new project launches today in new zealand: people can report sexual harm, and get matched with others who reported the same person. when you report, you get a lawyer - and lawyer-client privilege. for free. i profile the website, technology, charity, & law firm here: www.webworm.co/tika/

For #WIPwednesday I actually have a WIP on the go! Herald of Decay from Age of Sigmar. Trying something new AGAIN by doing washes between different layers. Certainly not close to being finished, but looking forward to continuing. #hobby #miniatures #minipainting #aos #warhammercommunity

Got my larp kit out ready for Saturday, wanted to make sure if there was anything that needed repairs or cleaning then I wouldn't be rushing last minute. Very pleasantly surprised to find past me put it all away dry and clean, so it's all good to go!

ed sheeran has shared the most pathetic, cowardly, privileged statement i could imagine given the situation. if a wizard suddenly removed all of ed's bones from his body & he melted into a puddle of organs, skin & goo, this is what it would it would have gargled at you: www.webworm.co/edsheeran/

If anyone in the Northeast England area want to join a really friendly LARP that meets up for a day a month outside Hexham, and has a hilarious Discord group, feel free to hit me up for details on Catreath - a fantasy LARP based on early medieval Britain. Next weekend we're back to playing!

They're painted now, just want to get the bases done before I show them off. They were quite the different experience with so little detail in the sculpts (though that's part of their charm) it was hard in a way!

It's been too many weeks since I last managed to get any painting done on any minis. Even on days where I don't have other jobs or appointments, my health has been making it so I don't feel up for sitting at the painting desk. It's disappointing but I'm trying not to get down about it

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).
