A big fist bump between Signature Aviation's fueler and the Eastern Air Express captain flying yesterday's ICE Air flight at MSP. They took away 24 shackled migrants from their homes around the Twin Cities. If a loved one may have been aboard, full video is here: youtube.com/watch?v=1-xmZiNEhC4

In #SaintPaul, this is our method for identifying urban planning policy failures.

this is how you summon a traffic circle in minneapolis. just go out and do burnouts in the big intersections until the city agrees with you that yes, that’s far too much space for cars

God, every time I see the words "Sheriff Bob Fletcher" in rapid succession I feel like I'm in a damn time machine. Fletcher was one of the rightwingers behind the 1991 attempt to repeal an ordinance that granted LGBTQ people rights in St. Paul. It failed by over 4,000 votes.

Seems pretty clear that Tom Emmer, Bob Fletcher, and the editors of the @startribune.com are members of a racist White Supremacist Gang.

DEEP DIVE is up! How the Star Tribune turned Republican “Somali gangs” rhetoric into an election-year crime narrative—and helped give demands for expanded local, state, and federal enforcement the authority of news.

Excellent response from local electeds, calling out abject bigotry against @leighfinke.bsky.social. Leigh Finke is absolutely wonderful and our family is proud to have her as our state representative. Mark Born OTOH can fuck off.

This goblin has a big sign on Snelling in Roseville that says "Normal guy, normal name." 👎

A very worthwhile argument for intentionality in social media posting.

Public spaces and the photos we post of them: https://streets.mn/2026/10/20/public-spaces-and-the-photos-we-post-of-them/ What does our relationship with public spaces and social media do to those public spaces?

Mark Born is running for State House in 66A (against Rep. Leigh Finke.) Here's the picture on his front page that I looked at and thought, "this is AI," and a picture from his Bio page that looks like a real image of him.

Go to your camera roll and search “boat”. Post one that you like.

Differences between St Paul, MN and my hometown of Jacksonville, FL: St Paul unfortunately has had 4 pedestrian deaths this year. Jacksonville? 30. 30 pedestrians killed. So far. 4 is too many: but today I'm grateful for safer streets for my family.

This is an excellent & thorough piece. I don't live in this district but I think it would be well represented by either candidate.

Rebecca Noecker and Maria Isa Perez-Vega are both running for the same seat on the Ramsey County Board. Here’s where some voters in their district line up — what they’ve accomplished while in office — and what they say about the job, and each other. www.twincities.com/2026/10/15/r...

This historic event marks the first time the general public has been allowed to sit down on the Nicollet Mall since 2015. Naturally these new "benches" are designed so that homeless people can't sleep there, they also look temporary. This is what this exact section looked like in 2005:

Have to be clear just how dangerous this is. If it continues, it effectively removes constitutional rights from an entire class of people. Imagine you had to fear that if you criticize the regime, any error on paperwork filled out by your family decades ago could be used to strip your citizenship.

The timing of this raid and reports that a White House official was involved raise serious questions that should concern all Americans, regardless of political party.

I'm sorry, I know she needs to win but this today is fucking pathetic.

Earlier this week, a woman from Women Against Military Madness stopped by the store and asked if we'd be willing to distribute yard signs urging #SaintPaul to end contracts with Israeli companies.

So, that was my Saturday. Neither of these interactions was particularly unique, but the way they happened so close together was remarkable. As a business that chooses to advocate for what we see as justice in an increasingly fascist world, this is the work we do. It feels worthwhile.

Earlier this week, a woman from Women Against Military Madness stopped by the store and asked if we'd be willing to distribute yard signs urging #SaintPaul to end contracts with Israeli companies.

About an hour and a half later, another woman entered the store. She also noticed the signs. I saw her smile briefly in response. She says she's never been in before but appreciated our other signs out front. She shops for a long time, picks out a few small things, including ICE OUT earrings.

At checkout, she tells us that her daughter's husband is from Gaza. He grew up there. His entire family is trapped there. She doesn't need to explain more, she can tell we understand. We don't say much, either. What can be said?

But I also feel manipulated. We didn't actually do anything to hurt this person. We did not insult her. She chose to turn our opposition to the murder of tens of thousands of Palestinians into a personal attack on herself and her ethnicity. Which it was not.

She was not the victim in this interaction but she tried to make us feel that she was. As if we're the only people in the world calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza. As if, in doing so, we're somehow making our store unsafe or unwelcoming to her. None of that is true.

So I butt in and say something like "Well, genocide has consequences." I add that if I were in another country, I'd be advocating for boycotting American businesses as well. This did not calm the conversation. At all. The woman is openly crying, telling us how much we've hurt her.

She says she can't shop at our store anymore and leaves. This isn't the first time this sorta thing this has happened but I immediately feel like shit. I don't like making folks cry. Abby says I wasn't wrong but the conversation would've been more productive if I'd stayed out of it. True enough.

So, Abby starts to explain why we agree with WAMM's campaign, but the conversation quickly escalates. I'm helping another customer, but like everyone else in the store, they're just trying to buy a birthday present, not attend a heated debate on Gaza.

The woman asks, so do you believe every Israeli business should be boycotted? All the small businesses? All the wonderful artists? She's nearly in tears now and I'm feeling like this has become entirely inappropriate. We can't be the first people she's encountered who oppose genocide?

Abby & I were working again yesterday. It was a sunny Saturday morning and the store was busy. A woman walked in and immediately noticed the WAMM signs by the front door. She seemed concerned and asked "What do those signs mean?"

Abby has Jewish ancestry through Millie that dates back to the earliest days of Minneapolis. In the past couple years, she's been studying Judaism in an effort to reconnect with her roots. She's also been learning a lot about Israeli Palestinian conflict.
