Very cool having the designer run the game. It gives a really unique insight into the system. Really hope we get more of these.

Honestly pretty happy with my Appendix N jam results given the sheer quality and quantity of entrants. Top 50% of game-ability means my game has more game than most of the other games in the game jam. Congrats to everyone who submitted. Looking forward to next year.

GK Chesterton's command of the English language is awe inspiring. He takes something you've heard a thousand times, flips it on its head, and pulls an even greater truth out of it. Well worth a read and entirely free! standardebooks.org/ebooks/g-k-c...

It's slop! It kind of works but no one has bothered to iron out the details. That kind of carelessness is typical of these decompiles and reimplementations.

After I test this I might do a write up. I have had a draft about the actual capabilities and limits of AI sitting there for ages and this might be a good case study.

I found a open source version of In Design the other day. Its an AI assisted reverse engineering effort which is disappointing but it looks like they also put in the work to actually polish it. Going to test it this evening because desktop publishing feels like the only major missing piece on Linux.

What's more suprising than anything the module delivers is that @weepingstag.bsky.social got into Star Trek through Lower Decks. Ew. (I'm sure Lower Decks is fine but that is an insane way to start watching Star Trek)

Season 2 of Ansible Uplink begins with a TIME WARP episode! @weepingstag.bsky.social joins to review the 1983 Classic Traveller module: Adventure 9: Nomads of the World-Ocean by Andrew and William Keith.

Rise Up (From the Grave) Comus@riseupcomus.bsky.social

Factions are such an important part of OSR play because the OSR is full of factions that all hate each other, so we really can really imagine what it's like.

My son wanted to colour in Batman so I photocopied Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns pencils. Once again I have proven that everyone else's "world's best dad" mugs are lies.

Children are fascinating. My 3 y/o wanted to make Goofy out of megablocks, but only the 1 stud pieces. All was going well when he built 2 pillars for his legs and 2 for his butt but the boy couldn't work out how to make his head and teeth. The whole experience felt like Twin Peaks.

Now my wife has been recruited to crochet the Goofy teeth, and he insists he wants them "bigger and bigger and bigger". I fear, that if he gets his way, they may blot out the sun with their magnificence.

Okay this game fucking rips. Mostly combat focused with a bit of skill development and managing supplies, but the atmosphere is intense! Every floor has been another step away from reality and into hell.

Steam is having a Party-based RPG sale and I just found this great dungeon crawler called THYSIASTERY. Fantastic presentation and mechanics so far. Excited to see how deep it goes.

I am getting some seriously nice comments on my appendix N jam entry. Now I 100% have to do a post-jam update. Might even try to squeeze a dungeon into it.

Copyright is also a huge problem in tech. All these streaming services are technologically stagnant because their main area of investment is acquiring IP and licenses. It should not be faster for me to stream a movie from a torrent than it is Netflix but here we are.

HODAG RPG@hodagrpg.bsky.social

Copyright has destroyed the artistic process. Every single artist throughout time has lifted and modified previous works, sometimes WHOLESALE from previous creators. It's always okay to use previous works as a springboard if you are human. If you are computer...halt and catch fire.

Did you know the reason you can't get a good printer is because they need to put invisible dots on everything you print so law enforcement can track you? It's also the reason they always need magenta ink and why I wear this tin foil hat!

I had to drop out early but still managed to capture some great pearls of wisdom from @zedecksiew.bsky.social (as well as a little sneak peak at his upcoming adventure (totally unrelated note but did you know there is a Malay version of Journey to the West?))

100. Into the Viridian Pit by @weepingstag.bsky.social A Star Trek inspired pointcrawl for Cairn 2e πŸ–– Nice colors & a fun map, absolutely crammed with text describing locations, novel gear, an alien race, an infectious disease, & a whole roster of redshirts. Oh, and *literal* star-crossed lovers!

That's $9k each by the way. The writers get a chunk for themselves and then a chunk to spend on contractors and manufacturing. Then TKG pre-orders ~100-200 of the finished books (netting the creators another $1-2k when it's all said and done).

Mothership Month is back this year, with one big caveat: no crowdfunding, no new releases. Instead we're investing back in the community: For starters: the Jump-9 Writers Grant will invest $9k in 3 new writers to help them each create a Mothership zine. www.failuretolerated.com/mothership-m...

Listened to the album The New Sound by Geordie Greep. Incredible and uncomfortable listen. Geordies vocals remind me of Steely Dan with his slight sarcastic tone. Good stuff.

Aussies watch out!

Opening a shop. foulmarkings.com. Zines, prints, and shirts, plus a few zines from other creators I wanted to carry too. Zines ship within Australia, shirts to Australia, the US, and New Zealand. Signups are open now for first look when it opens.

I think for Liminal Horror's Summer Jam I'm going to base it off the time my son woke up and said "there are too many spiders in my room, my room is covered in spiders". It was alarming and I still don't know where it came from.
