Not trying to yuck anyone's yum but every time I learn more about one of these youtubers people are sinking their free time into I just get kinda sad

There was a point where if you wanted to call something a show it had to have charismatic hosts or at least a strong POV, now it's just boring people half heartedly riffing their way to pseudo-stardom mostly by virtue of having been around a long time, it's a sort of cultural marriage of convenience

Sort of a cultural "you are what you eat" in that you get served the stuff you deem worthy of your time

Guillermo Del Toro dropping another one liner that’s exactly how I feel about AI slop, the “punishment” is built in

Hate when other parents at the playground give you the wordless iPad Adult stare. Our kids are playing together, manchego. You’re gonna tell me how old yours is, you’re gonna tell me their name, in two weeks you’ll have forgotten me or we’ll be best friends

Small talk isn’t a tall order! It’s way weirder to silently hover around each other while you talk to your kid as though me and my kid aren’t there!!

Really bums me out that people seem less interested in stuff made by “regular” people and instead require their entertainment be sanctified by the presence of a celebrity

Grim stuff here, but take solace in -12 on page two

Had a very lovely time at Genius Night tonight, it's very nice to once again be doing fun live comedy stuff in beautiful Chicago, Illinois, God's Perfect City

I will be communing with geniuses tonight, we're going to imagine a new way for horses to look

Yo my live show “Genius Night” is tonight. We’ve been doing it for a year! These are insanely silly and creative shows that have been bangers without fail. And so will this one be. If you’re in Chicago come out and join us!!

If you drive like this, I don't really care what happens to you! I don't think drivers like this have the capacity to think of other people as living beings. The only decent function of prison is to keep people like this out from behind the wheel of their cars

ESG Hound@esghound.com

this is an insane way to frame this attempted murder. i hope that chud rots

I used to be a much more empathetic guy but you see enough anti-social behavior in traffic and your reaction to a guy complaining he's gonna die in prison after threatening to kill someone with his car is "idk go die, I guess!"

I have invented a new type of motion picture that isnt just a series of fast moving images. It's really bad for the people featured, they're stuck in there for real

Does feel kind of fucked up to be born too late to have one of those wallets that comically unfolds to reveal dozens of photos of my beautiful family

I wish there was a vaccine called "The Crucible" that'd just give me all the daycare illnesses at once for the year so I could just block off a week and return stronger

I wish there was a way to get on the "I will never donate to a political campaign again" list but because I had hope for electoral politics between 2015 and 2021, I am forever cursed to get texts saying things like "HELP US YOU PIECE OF SHIT MARCUS GORNCH IS MATCHING DONATIONS UP TO $11"

Fascinated by the commodification of “spooky” culture. Used to be that your friend who collected bones was a stone cold freak and you loved that about them. Now everybody’s got bones, the places that sell bones keep running out

If I go to a website and it's designed well, if I use an app and it works, if I call a customer service line and it takes less than thirty minutes, I will view whatever entity is behind that experience favorably for all eternity. Truly that simple. Bar's on the floor. Just make a thing that works.

The rule of any box office success is that the industry must learn the stupidest possible lesson from said success which means we are about to see some of the stupidest documentaries in human history

microcosm of society here in that I'm convinced they just keep asking for diapers from the people who bring them quickly when asked, which has promptly turned us into one of the families that doesn't bring them when asked

wooooah you did a man on the street thing with crazy guys damn brother you really opened my eyes to the fact that there are stupid people, I hadn't thought of that

The real downfall of posting was when restating obvious facts as novel observations became a reliable way of building a big following. So many accounts now just post various equivalents of "did you piss? try washing your hands!" and the comments are all stuff like "wow! good idea!"

I should be allowed to make "Daniel's Brew" the drink that has a fatality rate of 80%

horror movies are a reflection of our times, like how swimfan captured and defined the early 2000s public paranoia about swimfans
