My grandson had a birthday party yesterday. There was a piñata. My daughter put confetti in the piñata. The kids pushed the candy aside to roll around in the confetti. It was hilarious.

@brynntannehill.bsky.social is one smart cookie and I think her analysis on this one is absolutely correct.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a home for this. I've been working on it for a while, so it went to Substack. But, I think this is one of the most important things I've written in a while. It answers the question, is voting blue no matter who really the best option?

IMO, This is the whole ballgame. Money corrupts absolutely. Josh Turek: "We need to have campaign finance reform to get dark money out of politics. I want to sponsor a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. We can have oligarchy or we can have democracy. We can't have both."

Having a rough fibromyalgia day. Ended up taking a long nap. Took my spouse to karate and while talking with people there they all said they were jealous of my nap. I want to say no you aren’t. My body just gave up. I couldn’t do anything else that’s why I slept. And I didn’t wake up refreshed.

I’ve been thinking about the backlash trans folks are getting when they express their unwillingness to vote for candidates that are throwing them under the bus. Imagine if politicians who you otherwise agree with said that they wanted to roll back women’s rights. No more birth control or abortion.

politicians and their consultants. When you see a minority group being attacked and you don’t understand why they don’t seem to care about others replaces that minority demographic with another and see how you feel.

Seeing your rights wither on the vine in front of you is hard. Having people yell at you while that is happening is unconscionable. And to be clear, many of the rights for the trans community that are being rolled back are things they’ve been able to do for decades.

Would you feel okay putting your check mark next to that name? Would you just vote for them and wait for a better time to demand a change? Would you be understanding when people tell you that you need to vote for them anyway because it will affect other demographics is the other guy wins?

Or will you fell abandoned by both the candidate and the rest of the party? Unless you can get the rest of the people in the party to stand up for you the candidates will feel like they are doing the right thing. So instead of yelling at trans folks and their allies for their dismay aim it at the

Just read two books in a row with unreliable narrators. Not my favorite trope. And both books could have benefitted from either more editing or research. I’m hoping the one I just picked up is better.

Really good stuff here. It’s not trans people and their allies who need to change their positions.

Gender diverse children provide their adults with the opportunity and motivation to improve society in ways that are more positive for everyone. The need that children have for their parents’ love and support encourages adults to grow outside of their comfort zones and develop into better parents.

I’ve been watching the OG Little House on the Prairie on Roku. I have some thoughts. First the music is straight out of the 70s. The theme song would work for any number of 70s shows. I was not surprised to see that the composer also worked on Bonanza. He even won two Emmys for Little House.

Speaking of Harriet she is the epitome of nasty capitalist. She doesn’t seem to have much in redeeming qualities except caring about her kids by spoiling them. But Nels is a nice person who seems on the up and up. There is little to explain the attraction there. Harriet must be wild in bed.

The show is super fat phobic even when they are trying to show acceptance. It’s a regular punchline that Harriet is fat. Nellie is scolded about eating too much when she is pregnant. And Nels is super ashamed of his sister who is the fat lady in a circus that comes to town.

My spouse has decided this show is the ultimate in masculinity and what all the trad guys should aspire to.

I’m loving the Little House on the Prairie channel on Roku. It plays the OG show and the cheese ball acting and goofiness brings me so much nostalgia.

I needed to charge the battery on my RV so I could turn it on (note to self do that more often) and somehow I was able to find the battery charger in the garage in a box labeled car stuff on the shelf labeled car stuff. My daughter is a hero.

Apparently ACOG has changed the guidelines for cervical cancer screening for only once every 5 years for patients of average risk. What’s less clear is what average risk means. I had my claim denied despite testing + for HPV16 for three consecutive years. (I am finally negative.)

Riddle me this, if you have a test done that your insurance says it covers but the testing company failed to get the PA before the test should you have to pay if your EOB says you owe nothing due to the testing company’s mistake?

As I was getting ready for bed I heard a cat meowing on my deck. I looked out and saw a black and white cat at the back door. When I walked over the cat ran away. I have two black and white cats. I had to look around the house to ensure they were both safely inside. They were.

My cats usually have a catio they can go outside in. But we’ve been rebuilding our deck for a few months. Sitting in front of of the door is not the same. Sirius escaped today and the foreman had to catch him. Poor kitties.

Trans people are not “fighting for unpopular positions that society isn’t ready for.” Trans people are fighting to KEEP the rights we have enjoyed for decades. We have been able to legally change our gender markers since the 70s and before. Same with bathrooms, sports, youth, all for decades.
