Man, I don't even want to think about all the new stuff they're going to add to our annual training classes after this administration.

I wonder what a Texan furry would bring up first...that they're a furry or that they're a Texan? Honestly kind of the same question I have about furry pilots, so there could be layers to this.

We were investigating Wedgewood for faking their data and emailed them for comment this morning, ahead of publishing the findings tomorrow. They are now trying to cover up their fraud with the "we were doing a social experiment" excuse. Full story here: blog.fiftyplusone.news/p/fiftypluso...

I'm not going to get my hopes up, but elite defection will happen at some point. The leaks and soft flipping started last year in like the first quarter. These are not the sort of rats that will wait for the next lifeboat.

I'm getting close to launching a defense expo just for now war to combat all the future war stupidity. Its motto will just be that Robert Watson-Watt quote: "Give me the third best technology. The second best won't be ready in time. The best will never be ready."

Anduril founder and co-leader of the newly formed Project Meridian gave a sneak peek into what he sees as the future of war. 🔗Link to article in comments ⬇️

To be honest, even the most buzzcutted "hit people with a board with a nail in it" 1950s style cops can be like 50/50 on whether the DHS consolidation was a good idea in retrospect.

Truthout@truthout.org

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

Afterwards, NOBODY was satisfied with the outcome except the Marine Corps, the service that wanted it the least. And while GWN took a shot at fixing it decades later, I don't think I have ever heard a conversation about GWN that was about all the things it got right.

Even if this was actually the case, you probably wouldn't want to say it out loud if you were part of such a small and widely reviled group.

Mother Jones@motherjones.com

To "revel in the death of those who truly deserve it...is normal, good, and aligned with our natural and national order," Anduril co-founder Palmer Luckey wrote on X.

There's your goddamn multidomain. Hopefully this will lead to the DoD no longer treating cyber as something that happens in the astral plane.

1/ Restoring Yandex's damaged data centres will take at least six months and cost billions. Disruption is already severe; Russian manufacturers and distributors face imminent disaster due to Ukraine's strikes causing the collapse of the state-operated goods tracking system. ⬇️

This month has been, and is probably going to continue to be, like an Advent calendar for Trump gambling for resurrection.

Ukrainian drones struck three Yandex data centres in Russia, shutting down two and crippling the third. The attacks disrupted more than 80 services, including banking, transport and cloud infrastructure, following Russian strikes on Ukrainian data centres.

To be honest, at this point in Trump 2, if tomorrow I learned that Democratic elites were actually the fish people cult from The Shadow over Innsmouth, I'd at least be willing to hear them out.

1. Trump’s new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia is a prolific user of Truth Social where she regularly promoted Pizzagate and QAnon conspiracies, accusing elites in the Democratic Party and Hollywood of running child sex rings and eating people.

I'm curious about this. I suspect the amount of diesel Russia would have to export to the US to avert our impending crisis is probably at least as much as you'd have to remove from Russia to cause it to collapse.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "I think you heard about the oil deal with Russia. That is a big deal. That is massive amounts of oil coming into our country, and I want to thank President Putin to be honest with you."

Man, it must suck to get shot as a mercenary who isn't working for the US and covered by the Defense Base Act. They probably just get a morphine lollipop and a flight home. Maybe Tim Kennedy gets VA treatment, but good luck getting VA disability after this.

Am I the only one waiting for a bunch of follow on stories where Young MC or Morris Day and the Time or whoever announce they're withdrawing from this because they didn't know it was a public execution?

Look out kid, it's somethin you did. God knows when, but you're doin' it again...

NY Times Pitchbot@nytpitchbot.bsky.social

My kids have measles, I can’t afford diesel, I lost my job, and my country just lost a war to Iran. But at least now I can watch firing squad executions on TV.

For everything I have against it, Once An Eagle probably belongs on here too. I've had to go back to it many times to effectively criticize it, and its only real competition is The Caine Mutiny.

Army friends, where does Eric Shinseki currently stand in terms of being revolutionary or counterrevolutionary? Is he one of the Army's great transformational leaders or is he a frustrated/failed reformer?

The guy planned to die in the attack. I'm unclear on the extent to which the problem of suicide terrorism can be deterred by the death penalty.

Hegseth on Nidal Hasan: "He's gonna get a firing squad of soldiers. As it should be. We'll make sure that people are able to watch it. That it's public. Because people need to understand that there's serious consequences for these types of things."

Can't speak for anyone else, but the Marine Corps hasn't missed an annual recruiting goal since like the mid-90s. But even for the Army I think Hegseth has his history wrong.

You know what actually fixed Army recruiting? Better medical admin and physical preparation. It turns out there are a ton of people who wanted to serve, but they needed help getting to the baseline before shipping and not getting screened out or left waiting forever on a waiver. It wasn't the ads.

The mix of pre-training, fixing medical screening, and simple things like recruiter training fixed everything. There wasn't some audience of super-fit, hyper-masculine guys looking at The Calling and saying "Well I'm not joining because of this."

So I know the ad he's talking about...The Calling. We made fun of it in the Marine Corps, because we make fun of basically every Army ad, more because it was animated than because of its themes. But the thing is that the Army hit its recruiting goals that year, just not on the reserve side.

I think the year after it came out the entire Army fell short by tens of thousands, and The Calling got a lot of blame, enough that they switched back to Be All You Can Be, which we made fun of, and the Jonathan Majors ad, which we made fun of. But none of it helped.

I know it's like the least off-putting thing about him, but can someone just draw some eyebrows onto Thiel? Maybe with the same dye he uses on his hair so they match?

You know who this would never happen to? A flag officer. Partly because so many of them do a ton of running, but mostly because they have the experience to run against the crowd giving high fives specifically to avoid this kind of optic.

Pete Hegseth trails behind the crowd while running with troops in San Diego

Only 48 hours. I remember 2016, when we locked things down for like a month. By the end of it, it was like Irish monasteries looking at a steep decline in trade and demanding the Vikings come back.

Hilariously much of what we consider 'Americana' came from German immigrants in the mid-1800s. Hot dogs, beer, Christmas trees, hamburgers...but they also brought abolitionism with them so Elon's gotta get the calipers out...
