On January 28th I turned 80 years old and that started a reflective period in my life remembering events like they happened yesterday. I decided to write about some of them from a geopolitical perspective...

Well knock me over with a feather: Black Press has published an article in favour of proportional representation. It admits that the election results do not reflect the popular vote. That we have to keep going over this is like Groundhog Day albernivalleynews.com/2026/10/26/b... #bcpoli

Running pro-energy sector ads is not the mandate of Environment and Climate Change Canada. Carney is also gutting federal science agencies and trashing environmental protections. Carney is worse than Harper.

Now that polls are closed... What on earth was Dave Eby thinking when he asked Green voters to vote NDP to keep out Cons? You want them? You offer them an incentive beyond fearmongering. You could have been courting them all along with good policy. And lose that condescension to Emily Lowan.

Eby lost this election through multiple egregious mistakes, arrogance & lack of political skill. But we also need to see his catastrophic loss as proof of what happens when "progressives" swing to the right. Eby is not the first centrist to be taught this lesson. Can the NDP learn? #bcpoli

Well the 'Ghost of Christmas Past' came early this year for the Dippers. Remember way back when Dave Barrett called an early election he thought he would easily win & had his ass handed to him. In 2026 Eby had his ass handed to him by the Con's for calling an early election he thought he would win!

It's not confirmed Aaron Gunn will run/be acclaimed BC Conservative leader—but it seems likely. It would explain the bizarre announcement from Doerkson that there would be no election night scrum. If this bait & switch happens, it calls the legitimacy of the BC election into question. #bcpoli

Nothing will make you more averse to voting BC NDP than getting arrested by the militarized shock troops of the RCMP, tacitly authorized by the BC NDP govt, when you’re peacefully defending the last of our old growth forests at Fairy Creek

🤝 I was also arrested at FC and will not be voting for the NDP (in fairness my riding is very safe from the conservatives so it isn't really a dilemma, but still, I didn't vote for them in the last election either and probably won't again until i see a big turnover and change of direction)

NDP: if you're thinking of voting green, vote NDP instead. Please? Green: hey, check out all these former NDP MLAs that are supporting us. #votegreen #believeinbetter #bcpoli Don't be afraid of voicing your opinion. That's democracy.

Vancouver made history last night. Pete Fry is now the first Green mayor of a major Canadian city! Pete ran on making Vancouver a city people can actually afford and putting affordability first in every decision - the same fight BC Greens are bringing across the province. bcgreens.ca/vote 🗳️

Under Eby's NDP Penticton saw not one but TWO sizeable provincially funded affordable housing projects get cancelled. I want affordable housing for my city, not another unnecessary election. #penticton #bcpoli

If you’ve voted Green in the past, I’m asking for your support in this election. In 11 seats last time, the Green vote was the difference between electing a Conservative and electing a New Democrat.

I do. If there was ever a premier who should never have called a snap election it was Barrett. Who knows what else he might have accomplished. He lost right before the Habitat conference in 1976, where he showed up in jeans while Bennett paraded around in a slick suit. Beginning of the end
