Reminder: Trump raised tariffs on Brazil, pushing them to release Jair Bolsonaro, a fellow insurrectionist. Both Zuck and Musk titled the scales on their platforms to favor Jair’s son. So yeah, Trump and the Broligarchs were on the ballot. …and the Brazilian people told them to go to hell.

Unified, there’s nothing we cannot accomplish. It’s why the oligarchs spend billions to keep us divided and angry at each other. Musk has spent $400m+ to protect his sway in Texas. Google has spent $100m+ to oppose taxes in CA. Oligarchs are the greatest threat to our democracy.

They’re a bit more stable and further developed than the United States. I mean their democracy has its shit together. In Brazil,the Supreme Court can reject presidential pardons. Also, they successfully prosecuted the guy who tried to overthrow their government with a coup/riot at the capital.

Hungary and Brazil voted out dictators, but these countries enjoyed better odds than do Israel and the US. I suspect that only the US allows home schooling and enforces no civics requirement for graduation (nod to Frank Zappa). Only the US and Israel are insufficiently weary of dictators.

Fair taxation to break up monopolies and oligarchy: Establish below $25,000 as "poverty baseline" exempt from taxation. $25,000-$100,000, tax 10%, no exemptions, no refund. 1% tax increase, each $10,000 above 100,000. ie.=$130,000 pay 13% tax. This would recirculate wealth back to working class.

It was so much worse than that- the US was using Bolsonaro as a puppet for rare earth minerals if he won and wanted to privatize their beaches (illegal), and so much more. Unfortunately the far right won the other races for governor and Congress so Lula is ruling with a vipers nest around him.

Yes, people do arrange rides, buses, carpooling. In many Democrat-leaning, minority-occupied areas in states controlled by Republicans, people have to travel long distances to get to a polling station. It's part of their voter suppression strategy.

Yeah, since voting is mandatory here, it's always in a Sunday and the public transportation is free. Actually one of the ways they tried to cheat the election was not making the entire bus fleet available in major cities like São Paulo and Salvador.

If I was Brazilian I would have voted for Lula. But I wouldnt be celebrating. The man is a straight up thief, hes 80 years old which is just too old to be running a country and his corrupt government is destroying the country. Bolsanaro is the same but authoritarian. So yes Lula is less shitty.

51.5% to 48.5% is not rejection. It is a statistical tie. There is serious work to be done to change hearts and minds, and false-hope-driven complacency is 100% the opposite message.
