Internet hive mind. What is the best way to learn about video editing? I’m asking as a “learn by doing” person, who also finds inertia harder to overcome than I did in my 20s and 30s

I can’t make it this year, but you should!

Hey! Presents@heypresents.com

Less than a month to go until All Day Hey! 2026. Our single-track conference is carefully curated to ensure you get the most from the day, you'll find topics that leave you feeling inspired and ready to dig into something new. Have you and the team got tickets yet? ti.to/hey-presents...

One of my real pet hates with Windows 11 is the fact that you can only have the taskbar on the bottom of the screen. On my personal Linux machines I have it on the left of my leftmost monitor, as I used to with MacOS and in Windows 7, 8.1 and 10

Phil neglects to mention he is also a fantastic Compere/Host of technical events. Snap him up while you can!

Yesterday was my last day at Deno. From today, I'll be cheering the talented team on from outside the org. This also means that I'm now considering my next move in the DX/DevRel/Technical marketing space.

Pivot to renewables and remove our reliance on burning stuff we dig out of the ground, enriching people to the point they kill each other?

how would YOU open the Strait of Hormuz? Wrong answers only

Day off work today Instead of transforming data with code, I’m drawing pretty boxes with it. All while watching cosy content on YouTube. Nice change of pace.

If the agency you hired is using AI generated images like this, they are doing you a disservice, over-charging you and doing irreparable damage to your brand. The thought of doing that makes us sick at @set.studio, so if you're looking for an agency that actually cares, check us out. set.studio

A CSS Custom Properties quirk I just stumbled upon Consider this `color: var(--theme-defined-color, var(--fallback-color));` If I set `--theme-defined-color: inherit`, it is rendering `--fallback-color`, not the color defined in the parent element. Why is that?

Tossing ideas around in my brain about an article on the term "Artisanal" in Web Development - particularly in this era of AI, Vibe Coding, Slop, and Frameworks. It hasn't coalesed into a resonable set of points yet. But when it does, I'll post it

Our indy web agencies are struggling. I know first hand the incredible quality of Set Studio’s work and I’d urge anyone who needs a bit of website love (or indeed a new one) to hit them up. Likewise, if you’ve got a bit of learning budget kicking about, get yourself a piccalilli course.

bell.bzIt’s been a very hard year - Andy BellUnlike a lot of places in tech, my company, Set Studio/Piccalilli has no outside funding. Bootstrapped is what the LinkedIn people say, I think. It’s been a hard year this year. A very hard year...
