Penguin Colony might be my game of the year, good god. please go play it. there is a spark of legitimacy and depth and insight in its narrative that is so so rare in games writing. it's so special.

BUT you also will see me in the guest art credits! I wanted to be credited with my full Samoan name because that felt right in this case. Finished Penguin Colony, and for all the happily janky penguin physics, it unfurls into something darker, angrier, funnier, weirder. The back half of the game is where the aesthetic, thematic and ideological ambitions of the game really make themselves known in ever-more satisfying ways.

Everyone should do this. Ask your favorite devs to do this. See how they respond.

Having finished Penguin Colony it absolutely has The Juice if you're into what it's putting down, and I very much am. It's a bold statement in ways most games right now are not; it's as angry as Umurangi but a lot of ways bigger in scope (thematically but also in some ways mechanically). Hats off.
