The BBC is a branch of state. Notionally independent or quasi-independent if one prefers (meaning loyal on the big stuff) but no less integral than other establishmentarian organisations. Key role in the state ensemble is to affirm things as they are.

Yet more evidence of BBC being British Establishment propaganda wing - reward for editor of programme telling blatant lies 'The BBC just handed the newsroom to the editor who signed off the 2019 Panorama that treated “Is Labour Anti-Semitic?” as a closed case ...' www.facebook.com/TheDailyPoli...

Alex is far from the only British commentator who plainly believes e.g. the destruction of the Gaza Strip and the ethnic cleansing of southern Lebanon are a valiant battle by regrettably fascist white heroes against the black horde of Mordor. But how did this wildly extreme position become dominant?

Massie with the shocking news here that Palestinians have been importing the Israel/Palestine conflict to Britain, and that Palestinians are targeting Israelis on the streets of Britain.

Go back 20 years: Tony Blair is fighting the battle that will end his leadership and get him ousted, insisting that the 2006 Lebanon war is a principled battle for freedom - US crank Condoleeza Rice says it’s “the birth pangs of a new Middle East”. The UN ceasefire vote looks like this.

Look at it now. The government bans activist law-breaking protest groups as terrorists on a level with Al Qaeda and ISIS on fraudulent pretext, but really because they vandalised the US President’s golf course. The police are arresting thousands of protestors now, most of them elderly.

'This Land is Your Land' (Woody Guthrie) From the ploughed earth to the starry sky, from the river to the sea, from Gaza to Garvaghy ... #FreePalestine #EndOccupation #RepelFascism For to be sure there is 'a world to win' (Marx & Engels, The Communist Manifesto)

Moreover, Irish anti-partitionists will not be taking lectures from a colonial poobah whose party uses the law to coerce protestors of conscience against genocide, defining them in law as 'terrorists', while his government materially aids + abets the terror-state of Israel.

Why exactly should Iran not exercise custodianship over the strait?

Saul Staniforth@saulstaniforth.bsky.social

"We will continue to isolate Iran so that they re-open the Strait of Hormuz, which is so essential to tackling the cost of living crisis here at home" Do we have any idea what happened to make them close it?

Miliband is not a left-messiah. Nor his boss. Both are very naughty boys.

It's not just that we had two wasted years under Keir Starmer - years in which, with a vast majority and quite a lot of goodwill - he could have turned this country around. On crucial issues, we had two years of spiralling backwards, towards a very dark place. 🧵 www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

The House voted to condemn “socialism” earlier this week. Listen, I’ve been in and around politics for over 50 years. I grew up during McCarthyism and the “red Scare” of the 1950s. I’ve seen all of this fear-mongering before. Here’s what’s really going on.

How many times does the BBC lead on a murder story with a large headline stating: Man accused of murder 'not guilty,' according to man* Oh, never, right? Because you can see the obvious problem with that style of reportage, right?

Struggling to work out why Jenrick would single out these three Commonwealth countries rather than, say, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, whose citizens have exactly the same rights. It’s a head-scratcher.

BBC proclaims partiality in its reporting of Palestine. Its rationale, Israel, because a ‘democracy’ merits partisan privilege in how genocide is understood. On this same liberal basis, the BBC thus delegitimises Gazan Palestinian perspectives + lives as less than. As Other. x.com/owenjonesjou...

Trump has suffered major losses recently — in both federal courts and the court of public opinion. It's why he lashes out at the media, spreads lies, attacks his political enemies, and tries to rig elections. These are the actions of a tyrant with his back against the wall. Be warned.

Brooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley: "We're hearing people being stopped with no cause & being demanded to show paperwork to determine if they're here legally. We started hearing from our police officers the same complaints. Every one of these individuals is a person of color... it has to stop"

Gramsci defined hegemony as 'coercion plus consent' in order to distinguish it from domination by the ruling class over a subordinated majority, attained by coercion alone. Tacit consent thus falls away + legitimacy with it. And the consequence of this paradigm-shift is perilous to the ruling order.
