At least $50 billion for another pipeline. $82 billion in new military spending in 5 years. $300 billion in corporate welfare and mega incentives at an investment summit. But the cupboard is bare for Parks Canada.

If necessary but not sufficient conditions for democracy include: free and fair elections, the rule of law, respect for minority rights, the peaceful transition between different governments, etc. etc. etc. the US now literally fails on each individual item.

If Putin stops fighting, the war ends. If Zelensky stops fighting then his country will be occupied, leaders murdered, language banned, businesses stolen, children kidnapped. That's what happens in Russian-occupied Ukraine.

"A.i." as an industry is a fascist undertaking led by fascist billionaires. Do not get sucked in. Deprive it of your support and brain and money as much as possible. The billionaires who benefit from it want to destroy us and all of our freedom and independence, literally.

It's not about placing themselves at the top. They're already at the top. It's about putting us more firmly under control. Deskilled, devalued, hyper-surveilled, desperate. That vision of fascism won't be defeated in the next two elections. It's a long fight.

Fighting foreign interference should be a core Canadian national security priority. But if even being at a conference where the United States is named -- accurately -- as a foreign interference actor is a bridge too far for this government, then they've already conceded the game.

Austria's already saving $$ from ditching MS 365. "At $33.75 per user per month, a Microsoft 365 E3 subscription for 16,000 workstations costs approximately $6,480,000 per year, compared to LibreOffice’s zero cost."

Lesson 1: If want to start replacing US software, start. Lesson 2: Governments can replace proprietary US software. But first they have to see it as a problem. I'm not convinced the Carney government sees MS dependence as a security or financial risk (it's both). Political will is paramount.

FWIW, Austria's military got rid of MS Office over the course of about three years; 5 years from risk identification to full transition. They ID-ed MS as a security risk in 2020, began a volunteer pilot project in 2022, finished the transition in September 2025.
