A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

I got pneumonia two months ago because of this, and it triggered a hellscape of symptoms. Please understand how much you might be hurting others.
Regular reminder that when you go to things while sick, you are giving those germs to people with autoimmune disorders, you’re passing them to someone’s newborn, to someone’s elderly parents. It’s “just a cold” to you but it can and does severely impact countless people.

Republicans are the party of rape.
I want to scream at campaigns that all they're doing is pissing people off. There are much better uses for campaign funds.
Voters are receiving so many political texts, calls and mailers that some are reconsidering ever donating to a campaign again “I must get at least 10-20 texts A DAY from literally every single candidate in the country," a Colorado voter said. "It makes me never want to make a contribution again"

I feel like this is deserving of a "my man" thread from @kevinmkruse.bsky.social
NEWS: There are new licensable images of Sam Alito on Getty Images, and boy howdy does my man look like shit these days
I didn't know this. I'm glad other states have been able to pass RCV. I'm still really mad at @coloradodems.org for not supporting it when it was on the ballot. I can only hope that it makes the ballot again, and that the dems stop their nonsense.
This article contains no mention of the fact that Alaska uses ranked choice voting, which I think is important for people to know because THERE IS NO SPOILER EFFECT IN ALASKA. Anyone who doesn't want the Democrat to win can just rank both Dan Sullivans. The votes of the other Dan will go to Dan.
So she's completely devoid of any morals or empathy. What a piece of garbage. There's a special place in hell for those who harm animals.
🚨 NEW: The mother featured in Vivek Ramaswamy’s $4 MILLION attack ad against Amy Acton was found “not credible” by a court in an animal neglect case involving newborn kittens left in a 120°F car. Two kittens died. The disturbing details Ramaswamy’s ad leaves out:

Age-gating the internet isn’t the answer. Many of the best ways to protect the privacy of young people are identical to the steps adults should take, but it ultimately starts with a security plan.

For the 2026 elections, NPR has collected deadlines and information on how to register to vote — online, in person or by mail — in every U.S. state and territory.
They're bringing back the OG Unsolved Mysteries! Hehehe... youtu.be/v30igM4Lm84
Absolutely true. My childhood was incredibly similar to Amy Acton's, and my mom continued to torment me until the day she died. She went out of her way to hurt me as much as possible because she was mad. Nothing was my fault, but kids are easy targets for people with no morals.
I don’t even have words for the Acton ad. Survivors live in fear of their abusers—or those who enable them—harming them again. And for good reason. Abusers offered that platform will take it, no matter how many years have passed.

Hey, fellow election nerds! Check out the numbers in this thread. I don't know if things will stay this way, but wow!
Today's ballot update is in. ~590k total ballots have been cast and counted in Colorado, Democrats continue to outpace Republicans by about 9%, but the real story is what kind of Unaffiliated voters are turning out. Our modeling has the electorate currently 25.65% more Democratic than Republican.
I completely agree. I'm extra salty that they're doing this after the government bailed them out. Absolute loser behavior.
GM just announced the biggest stock buyback in automotive industry history. Instead of investing in their workers or new product lines, GM executives are robbing from the future to pay themselves and their shareholders today. Stock buybacks should be illegal.
This hurts my heart. We stayed for a week in the area the month before this happened, and we were in the heart of Ruidoso every day. It's such a great little town. I hope they can recover (obv not from the deaths, but everything else).
NEW: Three people died in Ruidoso on July 8, 2025, after dangerous floods swept through the New Mexico town. First responders say they were understaffed and inadequately equipped to respond to the flooding.
I've seen this mentioned a few times now, and it definitely appears to be sound advice.
BTW knowledge of the existence of this vulnerability enables a well financed malware group to use AI to find it, if you run PHP anything you should be taking the service down NOW until a patch is available. And then patch before bringing the service back up.

If you are running the stock PDS distribution, it should auto-update in the next 24 hours with a mitigation for the eMudhra intermediate CA. Or you can also update manually (see below). The latest tagged version is 0.4.5043. github.com/bluesky-soci...
new reference PDS container has been published! if you do the classic self-hosting auto-update setup, you can force a faster refresh with: sudo pdsadmin update and while you are in there why not: sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade
This is right up there with having a PW of password1234. FFS.
In case you've missed the context here: Major security issue in progress after it was discovered one of the certificate authorities trusted by default in every browser/system had a private key of 4. Yes, just 4. emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com

The request made the CISA employees fear they were being asked to take part in political interference. “My thought was they could keep it in their back pocket to invalidate any [election] results they don’t like,” one of the former officials said. “This goes against everything CISA represents.”
Early into Trump’s second term, political appointees at DHS made an unusual request of its agency focused on cybersecurity: Secretly acquire a voting machine and hack it. The agency was directed not to alert the voting machine company if it uncovered flaws, contrary to its standard practices.

The president of Ukraine isn't part of Ukraine's future? He is just so stupid and obnoxious. Well, at least he's being honest about fully supporting Russia.
Tuberville: "Zelensky will play hardball, but you know what? He's not even a player in the game. Putin, President Trump, and the people on our side will make the final decision about Ukraine's future."
