For those keeping up with poignant metaphors, the SS United States (pictured as it once was and as it is now), will be towed out of Mobile, Alabama on Nov. 12 and deliberately sunk.

MAGA seems to be trying out a new pro-corruption argument. At NatCon in Israel, conservative lawyer Will Chamberlain argued that "countries should be willing to tolerate mild amounts of corruption." New from me in @desmog.com www.desmog.com/2026/10/26/a...

Article 3 Project (A3P) president Mike Davis brags that A3P is “working closely” w/ Trump “to pick even more bold…judges in his 2d term.” A3P Senior Counsel Josh Hammer calls the “separation of church & state” a “lie” & gushes that Trump’s first 5 judicial picks are “stellar”. 1/

Meet Mike Davis, founder & president of the Article III Project, which advises Trump on judicial nominations. In 2024, he told Steve Bannon, “I would say this to Justice Amy Coney Barrett: … [M]aybe you should get your HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS … Just get to the RIGHT DAMNED RESULT.” 1/

Why didn't Danielle Smith and Rajan Sawhney attend the First Ministers meeting with First Nations? According to Sawhney, it would have been "impossible" for them to attend yesterday and make it back for today's legislative session. October 26th... The day when no planes flew.

From the other side of the funding table, may I say how much I LOVE to receive any proposal written by a human being? I know that these jobs are disappearing because of LLMs, but as the recipient of all that slop...my god. I don't know the answer, but the sector can't go on like this.

Any town that agrees to host a Trump convention or rally that doesn't ask this notorious deadbeat for money in advance is ridiculously incompetent. Trump has stiffed MANY cities. It's a lesson he learned when he didn't pay his subcontractors during construction of buildings.

“Could you see if my home is still standing?” For @newlinesmag.bsky.social, I write about how satellite imagery became one of the only ways Palestinians could see what remained of home. I spoke to four, two from Rafah, about what these images show and leave out.

Ghayda remembers her father’s farm in Juhor ad-Dik. He had started with a small piece of land and expanded it little by little over the years. As children, she and her siblings had dreamed of having a swimming pool, and eventually their father built one there.

Around it grew olive, clementine, citrus and almond trees. “Friday was our scared day,” Ghayda told me as their entire family would go to the farm. “It used to be really our favorite spot on earth.” Today, in her own words, “it is flattened and inaccessible.”

“Rafah was my grandmother,” Hamzé said. He remembers the smell of freshly baked bread, the olive and lemon trees around her home, and her stories about Yibna, the Palestinian village from which his family was displaced in 1948. On the wall hung the keys to their old house.

“My entryway to Palestine, to my Palestinian heritage and identity was the stories my father told me about growing up in Gaza,” @tksshawa.bsky.social told me. Many of the stories were about the beach, fishing, and beekeepers, including friends getting stung after getting into a beehive.

A fellow open-source investigator, @annonemo.bsky.social, grappled with the same questions when Palestinians asked him if their homes were still standing. “It felt wrong that they wanted, or felt they had to, ask me, a stranger using a pseudonym on X, such a personal and important question.”

I feel that "detransitioners" are something of a red herring. People discontinue medication all the time. I used to take estrogen. I know people who've tried 10 antidepressants. You try things until one of them works. Sometimes that thing is testosterone, sometimes it's not. No one's banning lexapro

I'm incredibly annoyed by certain detransitioners who demonize testosterone and transmasculinity on their very large platforms, but ultimately their experiences aren't relevant to mine. It's like, sorry, everyone has to take Prozac now because Lexapro made me sadder. That's not how medicine works.
