My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.
Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
Absolute disgrace. And Labor could fix it immediately by restoring social security to at least the poverty line. Would cost less than the stage 3tax cuts for rich people.
It has been at least 15 years since I have done any illumination... Did this as an exchange with a colleague who was very generous to the kiddo
@msdwrites.bsky.social yesteryears!
Dogs in last few frames not ours, but we're very sweet and enthusiastic to play fetch with the kids. I sadly did not get a good photo of Bowie, but no blue heeler has ever looked more like Bandit Heeler
So my brand new book A Study In Sparkling came out in the US this week, and... well, turns out I have to promote it?
If we're marketing by tropes...

June 14, ONE KNIGHT STAND, Amie Kaufman (🇦🇺) and Meagan Spooner.
If you, like me, imprinted on the Alanna books as a kid, then this romp about a lady knight and her ladylove (the follow up to LADY'S KNIGHT) is going to absolutely delight you.
May 10, THE ANTIQUARIAN'S OBJECT OF DESIRE, India Holton (🇳🇿).
This book is so much more than its premise, but the premise - fake hating - is pretty damn fun.
April 26, HOW TO KILL A GUY IN TEN DATES, Shailee Thompson (🇦🇺).
It's a slasher, it's a rom-com, it's a combination slasher/rom-com. I wasn't sure how that hybridisation was going to work, but I tore through this one.
When anyone mentions Marilyn Monroe’s pill addiction I am honour bound to bring up her severe incredibly painful endometriosis that she had surgery on BACK THEN because it was so bad. She was considered unreliable by men when she was often in debilitating pain
Djokovic made the decision to refuse to abide by AUS entry requirements that all non-citizens be fully vaccinated in the midst of a global pandemic
Just saying
Barnaby Joyce says One Nation is "one of the gayest parties" in Australia, while responding to ex-WA ONP candidate Parminder Singh describing gay people as having a mental illness
Joyce told the ABC that "I don't concur with his views and he obviously hasn't been around farms"
Strongly feel that I need to be sent to the seaside for a rest cure. Specifically the Whitsunday Islands, if I get to choose. I don't feel capable of much more than limping down to the beach, floating in a warm sea for a while, and then taking to the fainting couch for the rest of the day.
Just loving how John Cleese, now reduced to one of his own caricatures, rages about immigrants coming to the UK and failing to accept "our" culture, from his home in ... (checks notes) ... Nevis in the Caribbean.
Many years ago I had a copy of Alif the Unseen that @gwillow.me had kindly signed for me - I think I we swapped for a Ms Marvel headscarf I made her. At some point in the many moves it was lost. This makes me sad.
A friendship that started like 25 years ago with flying mall hugs, has turned into a friendship with such a deep understand of each others’ neurodivergence that I don’t know what I’d do without it.
Love you @deensey.bsky.social 🖤
