Scouting the internet for infohazards & infoblessings

does anyone have a good workflow for clipping scenes from media (I want to clip S6E1 of The Office, it explains a lot of 101 techniques of information warfare in a funny & accessible way, "gossip in the office")

(some people don't wanna be identified but in those cases they need to hide better. We, the open source intelligence agency, consider any agent that is legible to us part of our org, because we learn from your moves To exit: simply hide your influence operations!)

I asked students in a small college in upstate NY to pay attention to what words are spreading in their corners of the internet & try to identify its origin & what the word does

this is really fun because it's testing at various levels - I am curious how many things in my corner of the internet has made its way to theirs, but also how much of this is novel to the professor (and watching him try to puzzle over their meaning & function)

i just feel like if sociology was a serious discipline they would be testing theory by fixing radicalization pipelines, and setting up deradicalization pipelines, and whoever's theory is correct is the one that produces the desires empirical results

(this is NOT true btw but I really enjoyed thinking through it - what is the defense mechanism that the youth have against us adopting this strategy to kill their culture/slang?)

if you're an older person who finds words like mogg and maxxing annoying, just starting using them. people over the age of 30 have the superpower to end trends by simply adopting them

"can we predict, in principle, the “emotional resonance vector” of a new idea before it spreads" yes, absolutely! All you have to do is preregister with the open memetics institute. If your thing goes viral in the way you predict, then that's proof

i wanted to give a word to this concept, something like "certified open marketing" or "certified psyop". It is "certified" NOT by a third party, but by the fact that there is a prediction of what it will do before it launches

The post below is a bit incoherent, but important. It's about how society (now amplified by algorithms) chooses not to remember certain things: to "memory hole" them. Understanding how memetics works is the single #1 most important task facing humanity. Nothing else matters for civilization.

glimpse of what I've been up to (this is from the open memetics discord) - discussing memory holes & how they are unstable, because awareness of them makes them disappear

about to send an update for "Summer of Pub" sharing initial participants in our lil @leaflet.pub blog club! meant to do last week; finally putting together…anyone else participating? if you're joining but haven't shared your blog yet, lmk & I'll update the list! the ~only rule = publish weekly :)

great question!! I recently wrote an analysis/introduction to hank green from a memetics perspective (his egregore is surprisingly not well known at all in the tpot/rationalist spaces)

Ok honest question, what do you think my alignment is because I think it’s obvious but am worried it’s not.
