This might be what makes me finally make a website

Thread of some services/software I'm using instead of various billionaire-owned surveillance/fascist/"A.i." trash products: For my newsletters, @buttondown.com. Does the job! Great customer service - usually get personalized responses within 24 hours. (Never gonna join Substack.)

Times like these… I could really use a new version of We Are The World with Jelly Roll and Tate McCrae right about now

Did I log onto to bluesky for the first time in almost a year to see people’s takes on the Epstein files without having to read them for myself? No and you can’t prove it.

Days 36-38 of #100DaysOfSwiftUI complete! This last week has been slower moving for me but coding is fun and I will continue to do fun things ok?!

I want a menu to hold in my hands please? I want to give you my credit card and have you handle the taking my money from me please? I want you not to stand over me with your key pad while I decide what to tip you PLEASE?!!

i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?

Day 29-31 of #100DaysOfSwiftUI done! Took a break for a few days to adjust to my job interviewing study schedule. Back on that horse. Anyways, I did a little extra so scoring wouldn’t be so nebulous. Spacers are cool!

Swift dev journey continues, #100DaysOfSwiftUI, day 25 done! Tried to separate the buttons, not sure how. They are in an HStack with a custom view modifier that has padding on it. It works though!

This feels like the dumbest question in the world but what happened to ethics? And why do I feel like an idiot for asking?

Starting late November of last year, I began the slow process of re-teaching myself Swift/Swift UI at my own pace and on my own terms. I haven’t been telling ppl because that’s scary but hey. Day 23/100 is done. Thanks for all the effort into #100DaysOfSwiftUI! @twostraws.bsky.social!

Santa Cruz has the best branding of all cities besides I Heart NY. Also wow I was charmed. Going from hiking in the Redwoods to seeing people surfing on a single Sunday in January has been the most California thing to happen to me in a while.

The reason Silicon Valley is so powerful and annoying is because Oakland lost their sports teams. Without raider fans acting as an apex predator the nerds became too abundant

I get confused for being 24-26 and I certainly spend less. And I don’t look green. Should *I* start a lifestyle brand?

True Blood is the only show I’ve watched all the way through more than once but… Sailor Moon is too fun. I’d do that.

Story time about Barbie. Context is I cheer in the NFL. I saw it this weekend as a part of a birthday celebration with one of my teammates. It was about 20 of us. We all got dressed in various pink outfits (some sparkly, some with accessories, etc), fresh makeup, took a ton of pics. It was so fun.

Actually, I don’t think that’s a failing of Barbie per se, we all know Barbies are meant to be hot. It’s a failing on everyone who thinks the movie is feminist at a time when tiktok filters are making young girls want Botox and filler in their faces. Cognitive dissonance is strong with this one.

I’ve been thinking about those girls for the past few days in relation to the film and this is why came to mind. End of story, thanks for reading.

We take a lot more pictures and a small crowd has gathered at this point to help us. Some of the teens ask to take pictures with my teammates. I’m not certain if they knew our kind was just eviscerated in the film they were there to see, but that didn’t matter because to them we were aspirational.

I would say the main failing of Barbie is just that, it dismantles nothing. It upholds beauty culture. Barbie’s beauty is never critiqued but the appreciation of it is. How the sheer amount of marketing emails sent to my inbox for months with Barbie branded clothes and makeup is ignored.

Spoiler Alert: There is a scene in the film after Ken takes over Barbieland where clones of DCC are cheering on the Kens. That was a good time for us. 🫠 (I have more thoughts on this but not the point of this post). So we leave the theater still in high spirits saying "HI BARBIE" to anyone we see.

And we see them: a group of teenage girls in their awkward phase dressed in pink standing outside the theater and they are *transfixed*. We’re all half drunk saying Hi Barbie and laughing and they are like "OMG you all are so pretty." I see their eyes darting between each of our faces with awe.

At the theater we attended, plenty of folks wore pink but we were more noticeable for… reasons. In general if a group of at least 4 of us are out with any semblance of effort in our appearance we are hard to ignore. If we have a longtime vet in the group usually someone around will figure it out.

I walked to pick up lunch at a nearby cafe and on my way home someone pulled over near me to say I had gorgeous legs and he could tell I lift (I do), said I was beautiful and wanted me to have a nice day. It was sweet 🥰

Twitter is unusable. I’m reading any common sense tweet about the Jordan Neely lynching and I have to scroll past all these blue check responses that are so disgusting. This might be my limit.
