What if you see ICE at the polls? (Don't worry! Read on for the plan!) @indivisible.org roped me in to design and illustrate a new zine! Check it out in this 🧵 - and visit linktr.ee/wewillvote to sign up for the Election Protection Program and find all the resources you need!

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

alright not to pivot on another thing but can we all finally admit that midnight mass sucked or nah lol

This was honestly an infuriating read, shame on all those people that actively shafted the unionizing efforts at Double Fine.

Kotaku@kotaku.com

Back in May, Double Fine employees petitioned for a union. Two weeks later, that petition was withdrawn. What happened? https://kotaku.com/inside-the-failed-fight-to-unionize-one-of-gamings-most-idealized-studios-2000742755

And I know bluesky people in particular hate when I call people losers, but if you're anti-union you are a loser, sorry sucks to suck

okay my last spicy take, but STOP letting charismatic white men in leadership get away with 0 culpability!! Tim Schafer should have done more to protect his union-positive employees!! What type of message does it send to lay off all of the unionizing committee bro jfc

So, the things that stand out to me about this. There's an anti-union employee who has yelled at people till they cry both times there's been a unionization attempt, and yet hasn't been fired. If management won't fire an employee who yells at you till you cry then you need a union cuz what the fuck.

unions are so critical but more importantly they are dynamic and ever-changing. If there's something you don't like, guess what? You can change it! The animation guild finally unionized production workers across studios, and that came at many MANY frustrating but important discussions w/ eligibility

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

rewatching the terminator franchise with my husband and I think everyone is too critical on Genisys when it's at least doing some interesting stuff with the timeline (it's just not executed well)

I've seen people online speak poorly about Nikole Hannah-Jones and it just makes me so sad. She clearly is a good mom trying to ensure her daughter has a secure strong connection to the black community while struggling with the racial inequality of education. White people just dont get it

I was a mentee of Helioscope Studio gosh, maybe 15+ years ago at this point, and it was absolutely pivotal to my growth as an artist today.

off sabbatical for 1 second to say: sayonara lara as a show and esp. episode 12 can be read more dynamically if you don't just read the show's themes as solely about lesbianism against heteronormativity but also about trans womanhood and transition / "desiring to live in a world". ok bye again

saw a tweet where someone complained that goodbye lara was "nothing groundbreaking" and I'm like damn is that your metric of enjoyment?? It Has to be groundbreakingly new/good otherwise it's not worth your time? Yeesh

The little mermaid doesn't give up her fins for just some guy, she rejects the life path given to her and chooses a life of her own, freedom!!!

This article reveals that Lilly Wachowski tried to make a show based on @hannahtempler.com's brilliant COSMOKNIGHTS. While its a shame we'll never get to see that show, you can still bask in the glory of the original comic: www.cosmoknights.space

watched Akira for the first time (i know shut up) and it's pretty wild how beautiful it still is, and how there's just not enough time in movie productions now to create animation of that much mastery anymore

there's discourse online about how the Wandance mangaka made better dancing animation than the anime production and yeah! no shit! he's a master of his craft and probably studied dancing for years! you try to learn the specifics of hiphop and then animate it in less than a week and see how you do it

I had to intensely watch videos on how people make espressos because I never made one before but I needed to learn for a scene I was storyboarding. This is a very silly job lol

you can tell how much of that movie was just made by people who really loved animating what they were animating. Viewers really don't get how unique it is to work on something that you have personal interest AND mastery in. In US animation it's always just sort of doing your best with what you got

This is demonstrably, measurably improving the health of the people who live there. Most notably, it increases the respiratory *& cognitive* health of children. They literally do better in school. If this country really gave a shit about children, this would be at the top of the public-policy list.
