Thread documenting my discovery process and thoughts about unused textures in the final boss arena of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. I wouldn't qualify it as cut content, but as a probable earlier iteration of the Divine Gate appearance and themes.

With the OBLIVION remake announced, just a reminder that the BDS boycott of Microsoft includes Bethesda (this is not a judgment, so don't @ me with your defenses--just a reminder, if you're boycotting).

I have shared this story, this thread, before - but I think given the state of the world, it's worth telling once again. Maybe it can help, especially if like me, you make art, and you wonder what the use of all of it is right now.

Back in 2021, PMG reported on the unseen games industry crunch taking place at outsourcing studios in SE Asia. Since then, the companies we looked at have continued to work on some of the biggest games in the world, without any push to improve the conditions of the artists doing that work. (1/7)

Update for the bloody divine gate thread: Lost Miquella cinematic from the SotE gameplay trailer solved and also confirms that the divine gate was bloody at some point in development. Check out the whole thread for more context on this discovery and speculation.

But here's the huge discovery thanks to user "Rhys1201" on Discord that noticed it in the gameplay trailer after reading this thread. The lost cinematic of miquella handing his hand to the scadutree was taken from top the stairs of the divine gate. But the corpses are dark red and match perfectly!

Here is Church's thread about my discoveries and their lore implications, if you've seen my findings please go check out his stuff!

The Gate of Divinity is made of flesh. Kera's data mining revealed decayed & bloodied assets within the sacrificial structure. I will explore the implications of this in the context of Belurat society. Be sure to read @demoncorejr.bsky.social thread for insights into their discovery process. 1/

My knowledge and skills to restore, mod and datamine fromsoftware games are quite limited. Hopefully this thread will lead others to enrich, refute, and maybe even restore some of these discoveries.

A few definitions to read this thread: mesh= 3d object Normal map= A texture that creates the illusion of surface relief Unless stating otherwise, all textures in this thread are from the aet410 folder, so if you see 187_a, the actual name is aet410_187_a

Important note: Even if based on unused assets, my conclusions and mockups in this thread are highly speculative and not properly restored content or proof of cut content. I'll detail at the end some of my theories as of what it could be from a development perspective.

This looks like a point and click game from the early 2000s (complimentary)

It's my birthday today! So I guess maybe it's time for asking (nicely) people to share my art? (Hi, I'm Edouard and I am awkward around people. Ask me about my favorite painters or architectures and you'll see)

You are up to date.
