getting the boys back together for a late-season half dome hike is like trying to hit a moving target while sailing the high seas. but it’ll all be worth it for that shared view at the summit

as a california boy i will never get used to going outside and feeling like i’m underwater. Floridians are just built different. someone please tell me: is there a way to walk around during the day in such a way that i won’t start doing my best impression of these windows here?

off to go suffer at the gym, but FIRST— gotta check all the nearby bodies of water for a water puppy to wrestle. no such puppy was found, but there’s still time! we’ve got ~8 days to find our bestest boy or a storm to chase.

unfortunately i have just been informed that there is in fact, zero expectation of a hurricane, so we’re just gonna have to settle for a baby tornado or something

i got a concerned phone call about this post, so i just wanted to clarify that this is what i thought was a fun, rhymy little bit about being in the muddy middle of a manuscript. i am an unstoppable force of positivity these days, nothing can bring me down... but still, i appreciated the call.

so... uh, i know it's not spooky season quite yet, but i think i trapped a LITERAL GHOST in what was meant to be a nice little ocean sounds recording?? please tell me you can hear this thing say "hi" *headphones on*

final update: that $2,500 was the best $9,000 dollars i’ve ever spent. sure i had to shell out $12,999 for the Fee fee, but the Black Hole fee is what really saved me— i don’t know if you know this, but a singularity caused a local collapse in space-time today… (1/2)

and if i wouldn’t have paid the Black Hole fee, it would’ve been like my book deal never happened! Luckily my Licensed Literary Agent was really looking out for me (2/)

update: i had The Call— i'm getting a book deal! i just have to wire $2,500 so the agent can pay the editor for the Manuscript Review (they already read my book and LOVED it), then the publishing house is going to offer me a million dollar book deal!

update update: i tried to wire them the money but it didn't work... but the agent told me not to worry. all i have to do is send them the $9,000 via cash app and then i'll be off to signing my book deal!

objective reality exists for me to dunk on solo leveling (i read the webnovels: twice, because I forgot I read it the first time [brain damage simulator was very effective]) i got tired of the MC glazing tbh.

~ and so the push towards The End continues WIP: book 2 in the Series that Shall Not Be Named [stats] chapters 1-15 are complete, and account for: 55,284 words ~250 pages. onto the rising action >>> towards the climax. all gas, no brakes. let’s go

“Put on a page what a character feels and there’s a pretty good chance that, paradoxically, what the reader will feel is nothing.” ~ *The Emotional Craft of Fiction* by Donald Maass

“Hope is a revolutionary patience… so is being a writer. Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don’t give up.” Anne Lamott’s *Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life*

“Do you think your writing is worth doing— as an end in itself?” “Oh, yes.” “You are sure?” “Very sure.” “That must be very pleasant.” “It is,” I said. “It is the one altogether pleasant thing about it.” Ernest Hemingway *On Writing* — Edited by Larry W. Phillips Green Hills of Africa, p. 26

“We have everything we need to tell stories full of human authenticity and emotional truth. There is nothing at all to hold us back. Nothing at all. Nothing more is needed. Right now, this minute, you have the instinct, eyes, and heart of a true novelist.” [Donald Maass]

“You do. What you may not have is belief. So I’m here to tell you: believe. You don’t need more years, manuscripts, acceptance, likes, stars, movie deals, money, or anything else material to be a true novelist. You are that novelist already because you are human.” [Donald Maass]

“If you need more practice, polish, craft, coffee, time, or a bigger team in your corner, don’t worry. Keep going and all those things will come. What you need before and beyond all that is faith.” ~ *The Emotional Craft of Fiction* by Donald Maass
