We have a bit of a natural experiment here. Compare the tone, quantity and duration of Charlie Kirk coverage with that of the two Dem lawmakers gunned down in their homes in Minnesota 6 months ago. May be revealing.

According to federal data, 13 of the top 20 cities in homicide rates have Republican governors. None of those cities are Chicago. 8 of the top 10 states in homicide rates are led by Republicans. None of those states are Illinois. And yet Trump is sending troops here.

He has kept among us in times of peace Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power. He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution & unacknowledged by our laws.

Today, USAID shuts down. Experts say this could lead to 14 million deaths by 2030—including 4.5 million babies and children under 5. Let’s not forget, Trump recently let a warehouse full of food aid rot rather than feed the hungry. This isn’t America first. It’s America heartless.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

Rewording my earlier post. RFK Jr will be testifying before Congress. I am interested in what experts and others think would be the best way to leverage this time and opportunity for the public good. If you were behind the dais for this hearing, what would you do? What do you want to see asked?

BREAKING: Police were CAUGHT ON CAMERA destroying their own squad cars to frame protestors — and your government still calls them “heroes.” Nah. These are operatives running psychological warfare against the public. This is fascism in plain sight.

I was a medic at the Santa Ana protests in OC today. I watched police fire tear gas, flash bangs, & rubber bullets into crowds of men, women, & children. Other medics and I were clearly marked with red crosses, and the police were targeting us. One of the most fucked up things I’ve ever seen.

Really, fuck looters. If you use legitimate civil grievance to steal shit, you are at best a nihilist. If "violence" means throwing a tear gas canister back at police then I can defend that, but if "violence" means robbing the local small businesses then eat shit.

A video explaining the terms about federalization of the Guard, the difference between the Guard, Reserves, and Active Duty, and when the guard or active duty can engage in law enforcement. Hint: the guard as activated in Calif cannot. adamkinzinger.substack.com/p/video-expl...

There are two pathways to what Trump is doing: 1) He is federalizing 2000 National Guard troops; or 2) He is deploying 2000 members of another state’s National Guard with the permission of *that* state’s governor. These posts walk through the relevant authorities—and the questions they raise:

L.A. is a Mexican-American city. The majority of the population is made up of racial and ethnic minorities. We are all happy living together and really do not want to see our friends, neighbors and families being terrorized by federal robo-cops. This is bullshit.

Step 1. Announce arbitrary tariffs for each country Step 2. When markets crash, pause those tariffs and say they're just leverage for deals Step 3. Promise deals Step 4. Fail to make deals Step 5. Announce arbitrary tariffs for each country ...and yes, I find it hard to keep my cool, sometimes.

Trump already tried this on "liberation day" and it was such a disaster that he walked it back in short order

Democratic leadership is purging anyone who wants candidates under 80, shutting down anyone who wants to impeach Trump, and telling everyone to shut up about Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Have I got all that? And their answer is flying tiny banners over Mar-a-Lago?

Relying almost exclusively on the arguments of a dude who the California Bar recommended be *disbarred* because of the *other* time he advanced cockamamie arguments without legal or evidentiary support that would, if accepted, destroy multiracial democracy, is out 👏🏾 rage 👏🏾 ous 👏🏾 heavy on the RAGE

60% of Americans have a chronic condition. Among people over 65, it's 95%. Saying most of our health care spending goes to chronic conditions is just another way of saying it goes to health care.

Kelly@broadwaybabyto.bsky.social

Dr Oz says being healthy is a patriotic duty Worse, he says they spend 70% of Medicare & Medicaid funds on chronic illness & aren’t “getting their money’s worth” This is the quiet part said out loud. They don’t want to cure chronic illness, they want us to take the blame. They don’t want to pay.

Excellent piece on Miller on habeas. Far superior to the surprisingly both-sides-ish coverage by some media. What Miller is claiming the power to do isn’t questionable or dubious. It would be anti-constitutional usurpation. www.stevevladeck.com/p/148-suspen...

stevevladeck.com148. Suspending Habeas CorpusIn response to adverse rulings in numerous immigration cases, Stephen Miller is raising the specter of suspending habeas. His argument is factually and legally nuts, but it's worth explaining *why.*
