fellas im addicted to the final fantasy v: ancient cave hack
this is so fuckin fun
seriously look it up and try it if you ever wanted a roguelike final fantasy v thats virtually endless in replayability
Drew this a few years ago for @desertp.com and still pretty proud of how it turned out. One of my few attempts at a big bulky character and/or detailed robot. Idea is the character transforms like Double (MMX4) or the 8 Gentle Judges of MMZ3. Shame if I left it to Twitter I abandoned to rot.
I see this game described as a Souls-like and while it does have attack/dodge/checkpoint mechanics, I really view this game more of a character action game like DMC that utilitizes some soulslike mechanics. It's also got a bit of Diablo in there.
Basically it's Nioh. If you've played Nioh, you know.
I'll say it enhances the experience if you've played through FF1 at least once and understood the plot. The game is called "Final Fantasy Origin" after all!
FF1 is pretty short for an RPG and I enjoyed the Pixel Remaster for what it's worth.
Okay, I just beat the game with my partner who played through it with me. This is one of the best games I've played by Koei Tecmo TBH. It's Nioh, but hyper accessible and an extremely clever re-visioning of Final Fantasy 1. The game uses FF3's job system to provide tons of gameplay variety.
I really want more games like this in FF. SoP doesn't fuck around with filler or wastes your time really at all. It's a streamlined, intense, focused experience that feels satisfying the whole way through. The game is challenging at times, but offers difficulty options. There's good QOL here too.
Im playing ff6 off stream, but both the original snes version and the pixel remaster. playing them back to back, spending a few hours with one and then the other.
i think the remaster might be definitive after you mod it to have the snes font and change the worldmap tileset to the original pallete.
that said the original version has its own unique comfiness being confined to snes constraints and i love how silly the translation is.
also i did NOT like the remaster on release. there was a lot wrong with it that appears fixed up now. iirc the credits roll was missing from the intro
its good now!
If youre at FWA my friends have a booth set up! My buddy @domalomn.bsky.social has been working on this game for a while now!
this game is really cool and ive done voices for it too if you care to hear them (im the announcer).
The art is fantastic too! lots of different artists worked on this game!
im in bed sick as fuck from some mega bad cold or flu and i think to myself as im aching and sweating myself inside out
"we are definitely overdue for a putt-putt reboot"
the infection has spread to my brain i think
okay so putt putt goes to the moon but i forget does their planet have a name i know hes from car town but like what planet is car town on? is it earth? is it like they make it a car pun and call it carth? how does the putt putt solar system work anyways
how did life begin
where did cars come from
There's a very certain kind of whimsy this game invokes, rewarding creativity by leading into little funny random scenarios that often invoke uncanny events gives me a lot of dopamine for some reason.
I think its fine to make resident evil universe movies that have nothing to do with the games. Umbrella was a huge organization and had other incidents around the world involving people that aren't just STARS adjacent or related to the Spencer mansion. i wanna see other cities that dealt with BOWs.
if this movie winds up good thatll be cool is what im saying
i like the resident evil setting a lot. its a very insane world filled with terrifying technology and insane conspiracies that enter the territory of the outright absurd. its really fun and way more than just zombies.
