Started a reread of Septology by Jon Fosse, translated with sublime skill by Damion Searls. The feeling I had when reading this for the first time (in three separate volumes) has never left me and in truth I've probably been seeking it in all the books I've read since.

2026 #98 A highlight of this year's reading so far. A budding anthropologist moves to the marshes of western France to study modern rural life and in the course of his turning native we attend the Rabelaisian banquet of the title. Superbly translated, the alt text has a better account ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #booksky

Enjoyed reading this collection of poetry in, well, various cafés. It was good for a quick dip and will stand up to multiple re-readings. Café as place, as a verb, as a state of mind, as a dreamscape. Interesting section inspired by Brief Encounter. Another quirky @fitzcarraldoeds.bsky.social
