There is thus immense risk that this permitting deal, underpinned by tech, energy, & finance logic, will not move the needle on climate action at scale. Just create more infrastructure of all flavors at the expense of people & place—including public lands, water & wildlife, & justice.

These people had protected status. They lived here legally. They worked, they paid taxes. They made lives. Raised families. Now we’ve dehumanized them. Ripped away that protection and told them to get out. This is a stain on the soul of this Nation.

Apparently AZ Republicans want to hold our state's water allocation hostage because they claim they haven't seen every single confidential doc in the contract negotiation process. When literally that morning we received a special update just for legislators. And have had regular updates prior.

Arizona Agenda@arizonaagenda.bsky.social

Arizona lawmakers have a unique responsibility among their counterparts in other Colorado River states to vote on interstate deals on the river.

And the deal the Rs will hold hostage is way better than what AZ would get without it, thanks to Gov. Hobbs' negotiating team at the Dept. of Water Resources. But the Rs want to play politics at this crucial juncture. Fine. Why didn't Rep. Biggs get us a deal using his Trump Admin connects?

Do we really want an Attorney General in Petersen with only 2 years of practice who demands access to confidential mid-negotiation documents? Why did the Republicans suddenly decide they want access to all of this, when they have been present with Legislative Dems in regular updates all along?

The fundraising texts you delete are working on someone. It’s infuriating and heartbreaking. An 85yo in Ohio gave more than double the value of his home. A 91yo in an Indianapolis senior facility gave 25K times. The DCCC/DSCC don’t just tolerate the spammers who exploit seniors. They take part.

I’m not going to hail Barrett and Roberts for allowing us to count our votes. It’s a huge win for democracy, but it shouldn’t have even been a question. That we were one vote away from disenfranchising votes is all the more reason to expand the court in 2029.

No legislative veto. Hampered oversight. No agencies outside of presidential control. No attempt to meaningfully enforce the power of the purse statutes. This is the Court’s doing.

Republicans hastily sent these chaotic and vague ballot referrals through on the very last day of session. Now they're scrambling because they know Arizonans don't want this. Dems will keep fighting these vindictive referrals, including working to stop them from reaching the ballot.
