I added an examples page to What PWA Can Do Today. If you have an example of a great PWA, please submit it and I will consider it for the listing. Link in the comments 👇

We've (everyone) been asking for this for years. Hope it's real.

It looks like Google is finally working on a way to support third-party browsers being able to install proper APKs for web apps. This is generally something that only Chrome can do currently. There's very little public documentation and it still seems quite early, but there's a new WebAppManager API

Back then, the team set out to challenge the app distribution duopoly and make things a bit more open. Proud to have been part of it.

You should try out microsoftedge.github.io/Demos/pwa-in...! It feels like a huge step forward for web apps. Kudos to @diekus.bsky.social, Lia Hiscock and others on the Microsoft Edge team driving this! Explainer: github.com/MicrosoftEdg...

hit Claude's limit for the first time building an app. Learning how to optimize usage is key, but using the tool to infer data is part of some processes after all.

Currently trying out the Web Install API (from the MS Edge team), and liking what I see. Write-up incoming. Nice work, @diekus.bsky.social et al. (Niggle: for a non-Edge user, finding the *beta* was hard. It kinda works on Chrome Canary but UI not hooked up yet). blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/20...

Creating a universal app store for PWAs seems like an obvious win here vs. heuristics triggered installs. But think about smaller, more bespoke app stores! An app store for your intranet apps. An app store for your webring of online mutuals. An app store for kid-friendly apps. That's fun territory.

On the Edge team, we think web apps should be easier to install. The default browser install button is great, but we'd like something which you can use on your own site, how and when you want it. That's why we're proposing the Web Install API, which you can now test!

The Web Install API is very promising and even enables web apps to install other web apps. Check the demo: whatpwacando.today/installation

#JS folks, what have you needed JS class mixins/traits for? Especially interested in use cases outside of Web Components (I already have plenty around WC)

How the App Store Helped Kill My Startup, and Why That Should Matter to You mariabettina.substack.com/p/how-the-ap... "We had to create TikToks just to teach users how to save our web app to their home screen. And even that confused people, largely because Apple designed it to be confusing."

mariabettina.substack.comHow the App Store Helped Kill My Startup, and Why That Should Matter to YouNot being allowed into the App Store played a pivotal role in the challenges my startup, Freyja, faced, even if it wasn’t the sole reason for its struggles.

and on this `liquid glass`, it looks cool, but I am a bit concerned about the accessibility implications of these designs? For example, look at the contrast in the text for artist's name. Also the `clear` theme looks like it can be challenging to distinguish things. Is this form over function?

"Sticky activation (or 'sticky user activation') is a window state that indicates a user has pressed a button, moved a mouse, used a menu, or performed some other user interaction." Don't you dare sticky activate me.

You are up to date.
