At TPAC today, Igalia’s Nicolò Ribaudo will lead a breakout on AsyncContext, the TC39 proposal that carries values across async JavaScript. It’s useful for things like frontend telemetry. Spec authors, come tell us what you need from it. 📍 Second Floor, Room 05, 15:30 GMT www.w3.org/events/meeti...

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Someone ringing me up today gave me a senior discount - the limit for which is close to 15 years older than my age. I can't stop thinking out it.

Me (frustrated at the fact that I am always losing my pen): Screw it, I'm just gonna buy like a 100 pens so that if I lose one I can just grab another. Me (1 month later): Shit... where did I put those other 99 pens?

Do we need a `<poster>` element? Scott thinks so and is yet again on the journey of extending the web. Scott was also part of bringing lazy loading to videos, and he's on to the next topic: responsive images in video elements. https://scottjehl.com/po...

I've started taking notes by hand in meetings and when I'm focused to remember to do stuff without getting distracted in the moment - the only trouble is I can't read my own writing half the time.

Sometimes I think maybe I need a chair that I strap into like an F1 driver or an astronaut or something to keep my shoulders back.

Let's talk a little more about Margaret Hamilton because she deserves it In 1961, Margaret Hamilton was tackling massive systems, having previously wrangled room-sized computers that blared like a foghorn whenever they crashed.

Finally, a CAPTCHA that doesn't require me to instantly know what American fire hydrants or school buses look like.

Sometimes I see these very convincing, clever, probably hard to detect scams - but very often it is pretty low effort and I bet it is a lot like mass mailings in general in the fact that the hit rate being low doesn't really matter, as long as it's wide enough?

It's wild to me that when I am using a website and see that it's using nearly a gb of memory when my first computer had 16k, you know?

I really hate that so many news sites make it impossible to know what parts of the page are story vs ads, or where the story ends... I find myself scrolling through garbage wondering where the rest of the story is, and eventually decide it just doesn't even exist.

I like that @keithamus.social keeps trying to carry old things across the finish line. It's such a shame that so many thing fizzle after so much work and good ideas. The web needs more (paid) people doing this.

Today that I read "AJAX" and it felt odd, and I realized that I don't use that term anymore. Is it still widely used?

Pennsylvania has now topped 1000 measles cases this year all by itself. Well done MAHA. Should be GADA - Give Americans Diseases again.
