“public perception of the donkey kong series” my brother in christ you are allowed to simply enjoy a thing

DK Vine@dkvine.com

Bananza getting nominated for Game of the Year is cool and well-deserved. Not only is it wonderful for the devs, but it will do wonders for the public perception of the Donkey Kong series! But it's still not enough for me to give a single damn about the Game Awards.

I’m seeing a lot of leftist posts on the other site overrun with hypercritical baseless claims about other liberals being DINOs or somesuch, usually with very strange like-dislike ratios. Maybe I’m thinking conspiratorially, but it seems that those posts+likes aren’t real. I like Ezra Klein!

watching commercials in 2025 is like "we know how you feel -- like only you can save the world. but it takes all of us. one by one. you're not a single grain of sand; you're part of a whole beach. and there may be a tsunami coming but it's nothing you can't handle. and at wal-mart, we

finding an old (12+y) thread on the internet is such a peculiarly joyful experience. People wrote in such a relatively carefree and silly prose compared to the algorithmic-rage-bait irony-poisoned ad-copy we all emit today. I miss the old web.

Arguing anything with a MAGA person or a fringe leftist makes it immediately obvious what the problem is. They can make whatever claims they want, and when you criticize those claims, they take a step back into a massive sea of alternative evidence and communities that confirm that evidence.

Eugene Vinitsky 🍒@eugenevinitsky.bsky.social

There is now a mountain of "evidence" anyone can draw for any positions. We now have to argue about the quality of the evidence and the ways it is interpreted but this is much harder.

The amount of willful unpunished stupidity that’s not just allowed, but incentivized by social media is imo the central issue of our modern sociopolitical culture. The dopamine loop involved in cyclically validating mutual lies is Very Bad. The government should regulate social media algorithms.

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

in my city which is apparently in a state of extended military occupation due to extreme and widespread unrest a really kind sanitation worker saw me sitting out front with my kids and gave them free toy trash cans and we talked about recycling

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

fuck literally anyone who agrees with this anti-american numbskull

Stephen Miller says they are “actively looking at” suspending the writ of habeas corpus, which is only allowed when the US has been invaded or during an insurrection, which would not allow people to challenge their incarceration in court if they are arrested and detained.

Senator Cory Booker has now broken the record for the longest Senate Floor speech, previously held by Strom Thurmond (24 hours 18 minutes).

the stock market? you mean the “what side of the bed does the bone-spurr’d octogenarian wake up on” betting pool? I’m all in on the irrational downfall of the global order, myself! 🙂

dumb superpower idea: whenever you leave a social scenario to poop everyone thinks you just peed. thinking of ways to exploit this and drawing blanks. potential opportunity for marginally improved outcomes of coffee dates?

been getting so stoked on charging bricks these days. you can charge gaming laptops with suckers the size of credit cards. in the future, my children will be able to charge so much shit so fast. this is way better than healthcare

I will start supporting local businesses when local businesses start supporting my need for a baked potato, a chicken sandwich, and a cup of chili for lunch. Until then, I am A Wendy’s Man, a student of Dave.

I’m 3 hours into yakuza 4 and gosh this storyline with Lily is creepy and I don’t know if it’s my misunderstanding of japanese relationship dynamics or I’m just some woke prude

It is in this moment I have decided to stop playing the games I have been advised to play (yakuza) and start playing the ones I want to play (like a dragon) — continuity be damned.
