RIP! :(

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Love this guy!

Our investigation into allegations of data fabrication at the firm SoCal Strategies, and an alleged association with the admittedly fraudulent firm Wedgewood Polls, has resulted in the pollster wiping itself from the face of the earth. Full story at 50+1: blog.fiftyplusone.news/p/more-polls...

Listened to a BBC news summary this morning on NPR. They talked about the North Sea oil field expansion. They described opponents of the expansion based on environmental concerns as “climate worriers”. Really BBC? Really? @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social

The New York Times editors' note on the Wedgewood Polls fiasco mentions FiftyPlusOne and links back to our investigation. We are happy our reporting on this bad actor is being recognized, and I applaud the reporting team, including Mary Radcliffe Cooper Burton, on their hard work!!

Incredible. The Wall Street Journal doesn't credit independent jornalist @marisakabas.bsky.social for breaking this story. Except it's not so incredible since this happens all the time. Follow her and subscribe to her newsletter, The Handbasket!

How did you find out the young man’s identity, @wsj.com? hmm?

MO voters, pay attention! Vote YES on Amendment 6. Vote NO on all the other amendments. The wording on the ballot is very confusing. If you dont know what they are about ahead of time, you’ll likely vote in a way you’ll later regret (and that is by design).

Missouri Republicans control virtually every lever of state government, but voters and the courts keep getting in their way. Now the GOP is targeting the systems that give both their power: the state’s judge selection process.

This is how 🍊💩 won in 2016 and 2024. No vast conspiracies, just a few tech billionaires leaning, heavily, on the scales of public opinion. Remember this the next time you log on to your social media accounts.

❗️Zelensky says Starlink restrictions remain active in Ukraine, cutting connections above 161 km/h and preventing interceptor drones from working. He says tests in the EU showed the same terminals working above 180 km/h, leading Kyiv to conclude the restriction is deliberate. #Ukraine

Zelenskyy says Starlink restrictions REMAIN in Ukraine, crippling interceptor drones and military operations. He says Ukraine has evidence the restrictions are DELIBERATE after testing Starlink systems in the EU, where they worked perfectly at speeds that cause connections to fail inside Ukraine.

PSA: Until we get well past the midterms I do not want to hear anyone, anywhere say anything at all about the 2028 presidential election. No “possible candidates”, no “positioning for run”, no nothing! Focus on what matters now! And right now, the 2028 elections matter not at all.
