If you, my coworker, message me "are you available?" and aren't ready to call me immediately when I say "yes", then I don't want to be dramatic, but you have to understand that every moment that passes until you call me is like 5,000 hot needles directly into my eyeballs, and I hate you

Sometimes I forget that normal people don't have ADHD and that disrupting their train of thought doesn't have the consequences of derailing a freight train into a small mountain village

Its autumn, im tired, work is relatively quiet, I should be paid to cuddle my homies and make delicious fall dishes

As I'm wrapping up my 4th path in Fortune's Weave (Leda's), and have already completed part 2 twice, I think I can share my overall opinion on this game. It's really really good but it has some pretty severe flaws that I don't understand.

I really think IS needs to take a hint from the last 3 games receiving consistent feedback from players: less downtime, please.

When solving a game's resource management puzzle boils down to "how much of this can I afford to skip?", you are wasting your time. I'm reminded of the side games they package with Owlcat CRPGs. So much development effort poured into something that exists to be circumvented.

It's bad to have a suite of "generic" characters who are better than the flashy recruits AND available in every path. Guzran and Noctula stealing the show every time feels like a compromise. I just don't like them that much! Why isn't Seteth allowed to kill things? I worked so hard to get him.

The biggest negative is the downtime. The monastery in 3H was repetitive, but its core tasks could be streamlined pretty fast and you'd end up zipping around. FW downtime is... repetitive, intrusive and mindless, especially when repeated playthroughs strip away all its mystery. Not a good mix.

The combat gameplay is just fine. Map design is more creative than in 3H but it does start feeling a bit diluted when you go through so much of it, and many of the maps are reused from route to route. I would say this is neither a positive nor a negative, it feels like average FE.

Class design and character customization is a solid B+. The new classes are so fun, especially the Ornius (ostrich) classes who can run over obstacles. Unit recruitment is not so hot and it feels very bad to work hard and recruit a cool-looking character who is cursed with bad stats.

The story and character designs are the most fun they've ever been in this series. I like the marriage of grounded 3H historical politics with more exaggerated anime tropes. Getting to see everything from 4 perspectives (soon to be 8) is a really wonderful way to discover this game.

Voter suppression in Texas is working exactly as it was designed to work. Republicans closed 92 voting locations in the state's largest swing county and now voters are waiting in line two hours to vote.

Today's brain worms: Fire Emblem TTRPG? But how does it work? Every player would need to control a small squad, at least... You could build that concept from the "Lord + 2 retainers" formula from the 3DS games Combat isn't hard to imagine, the video games have simple enough maths and strategy.

Finally, I'd include rules for recruitment, permadeath, and replenishing your lost troops. It's not Fire Emblem if you don't lose your favorite unit after extending them a little too far.

OK no actually the combat would need a massive overhaul to be digestible. I would want to condense the overall flow while preserving the concepts of chokepoints, quick death, and range manipulation

As for exploration and roleplay... there might be something to take from the 3H/FW downtime systems but those are more of a forced inconvenience than something you really wanna play with. I think I'd focus the game on the macro angle; supplying your army, negociating with NPCs, and espionage.

Support levels would also be a core part of the experience because it's not Fire Emblem if your chess pieces aren't making friends. Reward players for cooperative action and meaningful roleplay by giving them support boosts.

My pretentious ass has been enjoying Octopath a lot more now that I've realized it has more in common with SaGa than with FF (in the writing department, at least)

I just watched Hellraiser for the first time and I'm obsessed with this protagonist who was so down bad and bored that she got on board with serial sex murders as if it was any old Tuesday. We support women's wrongs in this household

I remember I couldn't get through a Clive Barker novel before because his depiction of people was so pessimistic and nasty. Turns out that in movie form, that becomes super campy and entertaining

There's a few games I don't really like and yet have played for hundreds of hours. Vicious cycle: this game seems cool -> i don't really enjoy it -> i stop halfway -> it goes back in the backlog -> enough time passes -> i never saw the ending, what if I gave it another try?

I've spent more time playing Octopath Traveler than most other RPGs in the last decade... because it's at the perfect level of "meh" to lure me in over and over and over again. Or maybe I'm seeing this as the glass half empty, and Octopath is actually a hidden gem because I keep coming back

Minor Leda spoilers ahead Ive enjoyed every other path so far in FW, but I have to admit I'm having trouble with Leda's. It's hard to enjoy a revenge arc when it starts at "everybody tries to stop her from self-destructing" and stays at that level the whole time. Nowhere to go until the finale

I might just be grumpy and fatigued from so much Fire Emblem. I just need the narrative to give me a little bit more justification for her being the divine embodiment of a wet blanket

It's been a few weeks now. Can we talk about how hilariously cringe Iliana is? Solel my man, your wife is gooning in public, she's scaring the little children, and she keeps talking about the end of the world, PLEASE do something

There is something intriguing about the way gods are written in FW. They appear to be flawed and mostly mortal, although their abilities and lifespans are higher than a human's. They feel like eccentric caged birds, more than like people with agency. Excited to see if the plot follows on those ideas

That's what made 3H a compelling story too; namely, the tension between Rhea's sainthood and her personal drama, the fact her family's massacre led her down the path of oppressive theocracy. I'm so thrilled that the writers of FW are diving in on those themes. God I love this fictional universe

I think autumn is hitting because my body desperately wants to wrap up and get cozy and binge a sitcom for 6 hours

So is 2B in Dead By Daylight its official "jump the shark" moment, or do we already have equally nonsensical survivors?

Does anyone have sites to recommend for medium/long-form writing? I'm just looking for a platform to share essays and articles. Not necessarily bothered with engagement and visibility, I just want something easy with a writer-centric policy.

If Anatolia/Talimun/Orchel/Betrand Part 1 DLC is too much to ask for then maybe we'll get a musou for them ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€

Dietrich doesn't feel bad that this happened. He's just a good communicator and he knows his crew needs to be aware of the situation. It's like telling your housemates that you're out of milk.

Okay so Fabio is one of those characters who will stick to my memory in the long term. And his VA delivered an award-worthy performance, holy shit. (the Fire Emblem character, not the Italian gentleman with the jawbones)

Umineko rewired my brain in a weird way where I can't engage in fantastical/supernatural stories anymore without imagining the mundane version.
