(This was very difficult; the book is the only one I was sure of without thought, lol. I considered THE MENU, JURASSIC PARK (movie), MIDNIGHT RUN, THE BIRDCAGE, TALK TO ME, then THE SOPRANOS and BREAKING BAD, then “Aja” or “Viva La Vida.”)
i think pink floyd is probably my favorite of 'the greats' but i think ac/dc is probably the band that sounds the most like rock & roll out of all of the rock and roll bands
Was originally planning on going home tonight, but the mechanic still has my car, so I’m staying at the rents’ again. Happy to, but I have food in my fridge at home that I wish I had access to right now. 😫
“expectations” by Olivia Rodrigo feat. Chappell Roan jumps to #3 (+60) on the Hot 100 this week.
It becomes Olivia’s 11th and Chappell’s 5th top 10 hit.
Okay. Baby steps. Completed my unemployment application just now, after 40 minutes on the phone, lol. Got some interviews this week. Got my car in at the mechanic’s. Deep breath. 🩵
I’ve been in and out of sleep today, which I need, but I was having such a vivid (recurring) dream about my own little restaurant and not being prepped for the evening. 😫
Anxious and scared about bills and rent coming up. Hate that I am in free-fall and still have to finish the application to unemployment by talking to them on the phone, if I can ever get through. Ugh.
Elijah Wood’s game TRANSFERENCE is really fucking cool and never talked about. Incredible story executed really well in a pretty quick to play but super compelling world. Highly rec!
I am truly surprised by how many people get pulled over with open containers in there. Like, not just a bottle they may have just bought that day or something, but also old empties on the floor, half-drunk bottles…
I’m not gonna say I’ve never had a drink in the car, but I put it in a tumbler or different bottle or something, lol, like. I don’t condone it, and I haven’t done it myself in years, but be discreet if you’re gonna break the law, lol!
Last week, mom was having some bad allergies, and I suggested she take another allergy pill (she takes like store brand Benadryl or something every day), and she acted like that would seriously straight up kill her, and acted like I was crazy for suggesting it.
Even though most medication advertisements HAVE to mention ALL POSSIBLE side effects and that doesn’t mean that if you take that medication, you will experience that effect. It’s so frustrating, fuck.
Well, and it’s frustrating cuz she thinks I’m dumb for trusting medicine and doctors and science. She thinks it’s a big scam, even while experiencing the benefits of it (she is prescribed muscle relaxers for her intense leg pain that keeps her awake at night, and she NEEDS those relaxers).

I tried to explain that (1) doubling the dose was not going to kill her and (2) could legitimately help, and she said that was stupid. My ex-brother used to - haven’t talked to him in years, dunno if he still does - take like a HANDFUL of sleeping pills and allergy pills every night.
And she knows that. And he’s fine. Like, I don’t understand it. I fully don’t understand being ~so~ weird about medicine, and being ~so~ proud of it. She genuinely thinks it’s irresponsible to take prescriptions without checking every possible side effect. Bad ones? Don’t take the meds.
I’ve been avoiding rewatching BRING HER BACK cuz I would say it’s definitely more sad than horrifying, and when I saw it in theaters, I sobbed the entire twenty minute drive home. 😅 But it’s a great movie, I’ll work up to it again eventually.
THE CYCLE was all right. The FX were truly awesome and disgusting, and the concept was pretty interesting, but it felt a bit slow for me, in a way that I don’t think it earned or needed. Worth a watch for the FX at least, though.
(1) GOD I hate a time jump. 27 days later?? Lazy.
(2) Am I the only person who gets irritated by a dog constantly barking at a body or something in movies? I know it’s meant to, like, assist in the fear, but it’s so fucking annoying to me, I often skip ahead to the end of the scene.
Can’t lie, I’m bored by THE CYCLE so far, but it’s my own personal problem; I just don’t like watching cops anymore. Like, detectives solving murders, not interested. ACAB, every movie shows them working harder than they ever do in real life, it just feels fully fake to me, always.
It is good that I am no longer working at that place. I liked the prep and food production, but the crew was never a good fit for me. I hate flapping in the wind with no safety net, but it is ultimately for the best to find something else.
I had an extremely vivid dream last night of pulling into the parking lot at work (but it was not a real job I’ve worked at). I was taking a hit off my vape, and the boss was in the lot, and my windows were down, and he yelled, “Did you just hit that vape right in front of me??”
I yelled back, “It’s nicotine!” (It is not.) And he was like, “Oh, okay, well, still, try to be more discreet about it!” And that’s all I remember. So strange.
