I'm already waiting to hear the excuses on tv for why the sitting president being credibly accused of being a serial (child) rapist and longtime Epstein co-conspirator is not a big enough story to devote their full attention to. Go on, pundits, show us what you'll be remembered for.

The Editorial Board@editorialboard.bsky.social

"The Committee presented at least one new allegation against Trump: a former Miss Switzerland who says she was raped by him at the Plaza Hotel in New York during a beauty pageant in 1993, leaving her bleeding and bruised." www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-...

It’s not difficult to begin drawing a correlation between Trump’s persecution of Jim Comey and Vladimir Putin’s persecution of Alexei Navalny.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

The hits and runs are always great to watch and garner most of the attention. But, good grief, the throws from the outfield are often just jaw-dropping and don’t get the attention they deserve.

I remembered the SEC fine for Carolina rushing the field was up to the $250,000 level. Nope. It’s up to $500,000 now; payable to the opponent, Tennessee.

Rushing the field. The SEC will take a sizable sum out of USC’s pocket for that. That’s OK. We don’t get many opportunities to do it. ROI+

Over the past 60 years, Gamecock football’s sixth season decides the head coach’s fate. Put aside external factors for a moment. If Beamer remains for a seventh season, what will his recruiting class look like next year given his record? What coach would sign up to take his place if he doesn’t?

This accurate and well article on affordability nails why people are so angry. It precisely illustrates how outrageously expensive relatable, everyday items are today vs. 1986. It isn’t just inflation! The 1986 data reconciles with my lived experience. 🎁 www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Threatening physical harm or injury against members of Congress because of their performance of their duties is a felony under US law, 18 USC § 351. Elon Musk could easily be prosecuted for what he has done. But he won't be. After all, the US government is in his pocket

Ukraine was winning the war, so Trump kneecapped Ukraine to help Russia. I wish it weren’t that simple, but it is. Our president is in bed with our enemies.

Trump’s stupidity and severe narcissism blind him to the reality that he is Putin’s stooge and the laughing stock of the world.

There it is y’all. Game changer of the century.

"What's the point of writing about national security—or, for that matter, of having a national security apparatus at all—if the men in those jobs (it’s mostly men who fucked this up) can’t spot the most obvious domestic threat to U.S. national security since the bombardment of Fort Sumter in 1861?"

Brian is right. It’s been my position for a long time and have said so in multiple ways. If the root issue — democracy — isn’t addressed first and aggressively, the worst possible nightmare becomes a quick reality. 🧵

The Dem voting base clearly believes the establishment is spineless. This has redounded to the benefit of progressive. But they want to spend their capital directly on transformative policy that can’t become law without doing the cringe resistance stuff first. www.offmessage.net/p/progressiv...

We’re back with our second story about how Trump’s purge of the FBI killed a sweeping bribery probe in D.C. This time, we take you to South Carolina, where two powerful politicians escaped scrutiny: Sen. Lindsey Graham and Rep. James Clyburn. THREAD 👇

This take might have made sense in 2019, but its not defensible now. Trump has gone to war, with remarkable success, against the institutions. Trump critics are making the case for significant institutional change, like court reform. These are not the mark of a successful institutional arrangements.

Its resilience rests not on politicians’ restraint but on the robustness of institutional arrangements, writes Frances Lee

DoJ to judge: Don’t pay attention or put confidence in Trump’s executive orders or social media posts. You should put full confidence in what the DoJ says. Never mind our history of lying to this court.
