I can't really believe it but it seems to be the case that the Times has not covered a credible accusation of rape against the President of the United States, but has two solid stories on Obama's cheesecake factory quip.

From now on every company should probably say their product might destroy the world, it really seems to boost valuations. "Will the McRib destroy all life? Quite possibly, but we think deliciousness is worth taking a few risks."

Our new Dyson vacuum is so powerful it may create a singularity, destroying not just our planet but the entire solar system. No, it still can't pick up cat hair, don't be unreasonable about this.

Yeah, raises some real philosophical questions about how much computer-driven catastrophe can be tolerated for the sake of line go up. Glad there's gonna be a blue-ribbon panel deciding that.

Bloomberg News@bloomberg.com

Can Anthropic’s handpicked trustees balance the rapid growth of AI with concerns about a computer-driven catastrophe?

The use of the word 'largely' shows that they know full well there are new revelations here. Not mentioning those while brushing the rest off as 'already been public' is a very specific/conspicuous editorial decision.

Dave Levitan@davelevitan.bsky.social

It is short and so I assume they are looking into things but it is... interesting... that the NYT piece on the new House Dems report on Trump ties to Epstein simply does not mention the brand new rape allegation and says whatever this is instead www.nytimes.com/2026/10/26/u...

We've seen the political press aggressively downplay the evidence that Trump is a serial rapist for years now, and at some point there's just no other conclusion but that these editors think serial rape isn't a 'real' scandal. They dodge this story every time, no matter how many victims speak up.

The evidence that Trump is a serial (child) rapist is pretty damn solid! Witnesses, contemporary details, public statements—everything prosecutors look for! And somehow the WHCA can't find a story there and the NYT doesn't think it merits Cheesecake Factory coverage, huh.

In the future AI will let you combine any two movies, your choice. Star Wars + Smurfs? Easy. Star Trek + Narnia? Do not quote the prime directive to me, Kirk, I was there when it was written. It will be a time of joy and wonder.

SlashFilm@slashfilm.bsky.social

Sci-fi author Andy Weir has an idea for a Star Trek/Star Wars crossover that would involve the events of A New Hope and The Wrath of Khan.

You could put that Narnia lion in any movie and it would work. Gritty police procedural, WWII period piece, Clint Eastwood western. Just have him say the line and it instantly works.

Young ‘uns: this stuff happened once a week during Obama’s presidency. Dijon mustard. Moving a bust of Churchill. Inviting a rapper to the White House. Putting his feet up on his desk. They’d scream and cry for days about how effete and snobby and Black he was and how misinderstood they were.

"Everyone agrees Trump is basically an orange Saddam Hussein, we got no problem with that. But we Republicans will not stand by while a man gently mocks the design choices of your town's most expensive chain restaurant."

The next congress can impeach him just for this, you know. There doesn't need to be a reason beyond "is a lying bigoted ignorant chud who misinforms Americans whenever he opens his mouth." Doesn't have to be a grand impeachment theory beyond Hopelessly Unfit.

Beatrice Keul, testified that she was introduced by Jeffrey Epstein to Donald J Trump, who then brutally raped her in a hotel room in Atlantic City, NJ, and her claims were deemed credible by a panel of the House Judiciary Committee today. The NYT has decided that this is not reportable news.

I think this will be a pretty damn good test of whether the White House Press Corps has any utility whatsoever or whether it's a squished slug that needs to be scraped off the nation's shoe.

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

Will anyone—anyone at all—ask Trump about the rape allegations published in an official report by the House Judiciary Democrats? Or will he continue to escape accountability for his violence?

So far I've seen more breaking stories about the admin's newest Comey indictment than about the 11 witness accounts of Trump conspiring with Epstein to traffic and rape women and children. Why is that i wonder. Does the news not know how to news.

Hunter reposted

It's really damning. The accusations are numerous and well-supported. But I was really struck by the descriptions of Trump's behavior -- the name dropping, strong-arming, and attempts to buy off silence. His gross rivalry with Epstein. It's all so familiar. It's shit he's been doing his entire life.

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States. "In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct." Report w/ new details: democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

I'm already waiting to hear the excuses on tv for why the sitting president being credibly accused of being a serial (child) rapist and longtime Epstein co-conspirator is not a big enough story to devote their full attention to. Go on, pundits, show us what you'll be remembered for.

The Editorial Board@editorialboard.bsky.social

"The Committee presented at least one new allegation against Trump: a former Miss Switzerland who says she was raped by him at the Plaza Hotel in New York during a beauty pageant in 1993, leaving her bleeding and bruised." www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-...

It's not that the news channels don't know how to cover scandals; they try to cook up new half-assed ones every single week. Emails! Laptops! PARKINSONS?!? POTUS raped multiple women in Epstein's presence, with Epstein's help, is about as big as you can get.

And yes I realize the real reason Trump's rapes don't get scandal coverage is because a large chunk of the news industry's top execs are also rapists and would prefer to get away with it. The MeToo movement made it quite clear how omnipresent assault is in entertainment/pol power circles.

We learned today that Republicans have been covering up allegations by 5 women that Donald Trump raped or assaulted them _in Jeffrey Epstein's presence_ Two were underage. Meanwhile, House Republicans:

It was set up by the Heritage Foundation, the main driver of most of the admin's worst, most criminal, and anti-Christian programs, so I am not understanding how the bishops thought this was going to go down except for like this.

Trump: "Somalia -- 98% of the people here now from Somalia don't work. They don't have to work because they steal so much. They all have a Mercedes Benz. Low IQ and they live better than you do."

Trump's ass is turning into a mailbox, even. That's probably why he's now checking out every Republican ass he sees, he's trying to figure out if other people have late stage mailbox ass or if it's just him.

He's lying of course, but it would be AMAZING if the lesson Trump takes out of the midterms is "voters love it when I talk about men's asses, from now on all my speeches have to be about manbutts."

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on Jon Husted: "I was pretty intent on explaining his body type ... he was down 11 or 12, now he's leading!"

But pardoning jr staffers would seem to _remove_ legal protections they'd have in forced congressional testimony, making it far easier to expose the crimes of superiors? Sure you could pardon the whole chain but you're just building a lavish record of evidence to be passed to state/civil courts.

Holly Brewer@earlymodjustice.bsky.social

“Several conservative organizations …— including the Heritage Foundation and American Moment — have pressed White House counsel to either prepare pardons or put in place funding for the legal fees necessary to defend junior staffers from criminal and congressional probes or potential lawsuits.”

It is a bit much for the Heritage Foundation guys to write down their plans to overwhelm justice by doing crimes too quickly for courts to intervene, only to now realize that hey wait we're gonna be on the hook for all of that stuff until the SoL runs out. These are not bright people.

I still can't understand this secret Trumper ethics code that says "murdering fishermen"=fun and "keeps multiple Saudi-backed slush accounts"=smart, but "throwing drink at sports game"=instant firing. If you're MAGA how can you even begin to guess where those lines are?
