I know everyone else has 2 games in hand but it's absolutely insane that #FTLUTD still remains alive for a #USLSL playoff spot. Last 4 matches against the 4 teams directly ahead of them in the table.
Fort Lauderdale United FC: 0 (0.44 xG) vs Carolina Ascent FC: 0 (1.28 xG) #FTLvCAR | #FTLUTD | #AlwaysClimbing | #USLSuperLeague | 🤖⚽
Yes it's not as fun when none of the lower division teams are left but the @opencup.ussoccer.com remains the most unique, cool, and interesting sports event in the United States. You should watch it.
The logo/wordmarks themselves are fine enough (the "S" is giving me some SEPTA/Subway vibes tho), but I really, really, hate everything having the same color. I thought the current color coding of each league/division was very well done.
Didn't have this on my bingo card for today. Some of the new wordmarks for the leagues:
Very pleased to see the real team also couldn't resist using the "SCSC" initials like I did for the Space Coast team in my all-Florida PES option file many moons ago lol
Good news everyone! USL League 1 is expanding to Florida (again.... again.... again.... again...) with Space Coast SC set to kick off in 2029! www.spacecoastprosoccer.com

I very much believe that if you reference Open Cup and FA Cup in your press release about a new tournament that your new tournament should actually resemble those two things and include amateur teams. That's the growth. Not two div. I leagues.
Shoutout to @meglinehan.com mentioning that if the Arthur Blank Crest Cup wants to call itself the women's soccer Open Cup, there should be amateur teams involved. (Also subscribe to Full Time)

A good start. But needs W-League/WPSL/other national amateur competition inclusion. Hopefully clarification (and expansion) of US-based Concacaf spots as well beyond the one up for grabs here + NWSL league spots.
NEWS: The NWSL + USL Super League cup competition that ESPN first reported in May is now official. The Arthur M. Blank Crest Cup Winner gets a berth in the Concacaf W Champions Cup. $1.7M prize pool. Single elimination Still likely 2028 start www.espn.com/soccer/story...
This exact same thing happened in a FTLUTD #USL Super League match a few weeks back, I had never seen it called before, neither had the commentators.
I DON'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST SAW #UWCL moment Arsenal gives up an 87th minute equalizer to Paris FC on a penalty that is awarded because the ref deemed that Leah Williamson handled a ball in play. Williamson thought GK Misa Rodriguez was giving her the ball to take a goal kick.😳
The visuals are great. Couldn't come up with a better name than "City FC"? Ugh. I hope in the tradition of Angel City FC being abbreviated on broadcast scorebugs as "LA", this team is abbreviated as "Phoenix"
We’re so ATL 🫰 Today, the NWSL’s 17th club unveiled it’s name and crest: Atlanta City FC. Sound off for ATL, coming in 2028!
ok baseball gods next up I know a full time return to teal is a long shot but can we at least get "Marlins" back on the front of the Marlins home uniforms again?
When the previous owners of the The Tampa Bay Rays rebranded the team in 2007, they removed the region from the away jerseys — standard fare for most teams. The new primary kit with a retro look debuts Tuesday at Yankee Stadium. Read more: www.wusf.org/sports/2026-...
Watching this team since the 2024/25 playoff semifinal has been like pushing a big rock up a hill covered in grease. Insane monkey paw energy. "Yes FTL gets a pro club back BUT they lose in the inaugural final in ET, incapable of beating TB, consistently lose matches by 1 goal" #USLSL
FT: DC Power 2-1 FTL United
It's cool that this is in Florida, however it's also within a confederation (Concacaf) that has arbitrarily excluded winners from a division 1 league under it's umbrella from competing in its continental club championship & has no clear info on who is competing from USA when it restarts in 2027.
FIFA Women's Champions Cup The annual competition for the reigning continental champions will be held in Miami this season Arsenal won the inaugural competition when London hosted & it’s now heading to Florida UWCL winners Barcelona & Mexican giants Club América will take part

Good news, everyone! (I'd like to see expansion fees be a part of this)
The #USL announces that it has reached a new agreement on revenue sharing w/its men's professional clubs. National revenues such as sponsorships & media rights will now trickle down to the clubs to a greater degree. This is key if the USL is to attract new investors. www.espn.com/soccer/story...?

You could fit EVERYONE into the #USOC & do the entire thing in the July-Dec footprint: - ALL indy pro clubs in, including expansion - Expand field to 128 by adding 16 amateur clubs (additional league slots and/or open qualifiers) Would add only 1 game to calendar for MLS-based finalist
Massive disappointment that not all USL clubs are participating. Pro clubs should not have to qualify for this tournament, and expansion clubs should be eligible. Adding more amateur teams and starting everyone one measly game earlier in round one would solve it. www.ussoccer.com/stories/2026...

What having your entire league bounced from the QFs of your own made up tournament does to a MFer (this is fantastic news)
👀 Sources: MLS is fully returning to the U.S. Open Cup. All 27 U.S.-based MLS teams will participate in a revamped version of the country's longest-running soccer competition 🏆 Reporting with @benwright.bsky.social for @backheeled.com ⤵️
License plate fun fact for non-Central FL people: When they released the FL Orlando City license plates, the standard lettering/numbering sequence was on "SEA". So you see a bunch of OCSC plates around here that start with "SEB". Wild coincidence (played for OC in addition to coaching Pride)
Forever a part of our history 💜 The Orlando Pride has parted ways with head coach Seb Hines. Departing the Club alongside Hines is goalkeeper coach Paul Crichton. More details at orlsoccer.co/ThankYouSeb 🔗
Thought he earned a stay of execution after putting Morché in last week and getting a shutout over Washington but then this week was a stinker. Maybe the GK switch was more of a "welp nothing to lose now" move (GK coach gone too)
Orlando Pride announce they have parted ways with Seb Hines. Yolanda Thomas will serve as Interim Head Coach.
Bill's money kept the Strikers in business thru the end of 2016 (which kept me & my wife's paychecks coming in, even if late). And him holding Strikers trademarks all those years possibly kept MLS from scooping them up & mothballing forever or doing something dumb with it (B team) RIP
Rest in Peace, Mr. Edwards. Thank you for believing in soccer in Tampa Bay and for everything you built at Al Lang Stadium. Our condolences to his family and loved ones. #COYR www.tampabay.com/news/st-pete...
For reference, that's a comparable drive distance to what Inter Miami had between temp and permanent venues. Similarly ramshackle rollouts for those two organizations. Whether Legacy also gets to paper over all the mistakes by landing biggest star on planet remains to be seen lol.
#NWSL NEWS: Boston Legacy FC will play the 2027 season at Centreville Bank Stadium in Rhode Island, which has been its part-time home this year. Boston Legacy won't move into White Stadium in Boston until 2028, two years behind the original plan.
I know they won't do it because of appearances, but USL regionalizing both USLC *and* USL Premier would be such a positive thing. Zero real competitive or commercial reasons teams from opposite sides of the continent need to ever play each other outside of late round Open Cup/USL Cup or Concacaf.

tickets for a league championship game should not go on sale until a week before said championship game because we do not know who is going to be playing in said championship game until that time and the participating team with the better record should be hosting said championship game

The Mexican federation rolled out a "new sporting model" with the Liga Expansion atop the pyramid of FMF leagues & Liga MX apart under its own governance structure. The main initial takeaway? This guarantees promotion & relegation won't be back in LMX.
