Presently struggling mightily to make it through Rescue from Gilligan's Island. Not that I was expecting this to be a lost classic, but I feel like The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island just won't make sense without the first in the trilogy.

Writing tie-ins is *a real fucking skill* and anyone who sneers at the people who do it can go piss up a rope. You think it's easy to write an entire novel to very specific order on an almost impossibly tight deadline? And have it be satisfying to read? Motherfucker, *you* try it. See how you do.

There is a doofus currently arguing here that no "creative talent" would choose to write tie-ins, and since I just did a panel this weekend on why creative talents choose to write IP, here are a few reasons. Non-financial reasons, for fun and because frankly it usually doesn't pay that well.

Glad I saw DIGGER before too many spoilers got spread. I can see why many people reacted negatively. It's challenging. It's uncomfortable & dark. The narrative structure & choices will throw a lot of folk for a loop. But also engrossing, frequently funny, and Tom Cruise puts it all out there.

You can kill as many people as you want, but you target a beautiful precious data center? The one that hosted all 40,000 Sexy Ladies For Ken Paxton accounts?

Uh oh, did someone’s website and personal account experience a big drop in activity after Ukraine hit a Russian data center?

Admiral Tuvix would have prevented The Burn. Countless lives were lost because of Janeway’s brutality. The Federation was set back by centuries, all because no one likes a Theater Kid.

STAR TREK: Revenge of Tuvix - Tuvix comes back to life aboard Voyager but just kindly forgives them all and goes about his business helping them, which generally makes the crew feel really terrible about themselves and their choices.

Who's the cute young couple? Why, that's good ol' Charlie Manson, marrying his teen sweetheart Rosalie Willis in 1955. Good luck, kids!

This seems to violate the 'no beardoes' edict.

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

The pearl-clutching on this one is going to be sweeeeeet.

Never been to the opera before? Now’s your chance. We’re giving away 70,000 free tickets to the @metopera at the iconic Lincoln Center. Go to on.nyc.gov/opera to enter the lottery. There’s not a bad seat in the house.

Pompeii is a UNESCO world heritage site not because it was remarkable in its prime, but because it survived to our era untouched: one moment, preserved for all time. But future generations won't know what OUR world was like unless we do the same. This is why we MUST bury Toronto with a volcano
