There is no reason to follow me. Seriously, think about the children. I really haven't been persuasive about this. You shouldn't follow me. It can't go well for you.

Being a good global citizen is the number one priority of the Chimerax Corporation and our entire product line of Abominators

It's so ugly I thought it was AI. But this image comes from Fox News in a fawning article. It looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory.

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Really upset about Walter Koenig. It's just... man. Sucks to be old enough to see the icons of your entire childhood pass away.

Congratulations to President Lula on his victory. Last night, the people of Brazil voted to uphold their democracy, championing opportunity for their families and economic independence. I hope all respect this democratic outcome.

Hello? That's AMBASSADOR Luta to you!

Owls in Towels@owls-in-towels.bsky.social

25th of Owltober! Luta the Eastern Screech Owl suffered a broken wing that wouldn't heal well enough for him to return to the wild. The good news is he became an Ambassador at Ohio Wildlife Center. Want to donate to OWC? ohiowildlifecenter.org/donate Source: fb.com/151437643406... #owlsintowels 💛🦉

This rabbit is looking at a farmer in a Trump hat trying to have a "harvest festival" party for his employees, about half of whom are from Central and South America, and complaining about how hard farming has gotten over the last few years.

Talking to a friend today about my teaching Survey of Western music and he suggested teaching it as "The accumulation of dissonance." I, naturally, was thinking Ligeti's Atmospheres on day 1. ;-)

I know he doesn't technically have $1 trillion, but I think we could still figure out how much he rakes in over a year and tax it at 99% after the first, like, $10 million. By some reckonings, that would still leave him making between $20 million to $1 billion a year. That should be enough.

I'm getting an old movie ready for delivery and it seems that Premiere has, once again, changed the way it handles color in some update. So everything's darker now inside the edit. Bleh.

Okay. You're NOT a lap-werewolf. You're way too big to sit here. I'm trying to type. C'mon! Don't be slobbery! Yes. You can curl up and sleep down there. Thank you for keeping my feet warm.

Ugh. I woke up this morning and there was a werewolf in my bed--sticking his nose under my pillow, giving my neck a crick. Then I'm like "why am I so stiff and uncomfortable and crampy?" and it's because ANOTHER werewolf was curled up at the end of the bed, making me sleep with my legs twisted up.

I still find the meter to be a less useful length than the foot. The yard is pretty useless too (about the same length as a meter +/-). But the foot is a HUMAN measure. The problem with it is the fact we use a decimal numbering system and feet are in what would be the more reasonable 12-based inches

I mean, a thousand feet is shorter than a kilometer. Like, by a lot. A whole lot. But a 10-foot yard gives us a 100-yard mile (or 10,000 feet) which is just under 2 miles. Get away from me with your cubits and fathoms and nautical miles and leagues.

So what I'm saying is that about the length of a foot is right. But the way we subdivide it is messed up. Decimal foot is the answer. 1/100th of a foot is *about* 1/8". You want more precision? The milli-foot is your frendo. Perfectly reasonable measurements. Now the mile? Dear heavens.

Ramaswamy has produced an attack ad weaponizing the rape of his opponent, Amy Acton, when she was 12 years old. It features Acton’s mother, who abandoned Acton after she was raped by her step-father, fleeing the state with her husband. Here is the corporate money helping fund that ad.

I really wish the precogs would stop screaming whenever they see me. Also: that the cops from the Precrime Division would stop shooting at me. The weirdest part is they'll unload a whole magazine, missing every shot, and someone will yell "It's too late, he's already altered the timeline!" Sigh.
