Two things: 1. #Wicker is an excellent movie. Go see it immediately. 2. For the love of God, white men, please THINK and PLAN extremely carefully before you attempt a sexy Halloween costume and end up in unintentional brown face.

No one whines about the off-season more than baseball fans but there is NEVER NOT BASEBALL.

162 games in the books. And now, what some people consider the start of the “real” season: That’s right, the second set of 162 games played by the remaining 12 teams, which will ultimately determine who makes it to the MLB playoffs.

Last year (a few weeks earlier but give me a break I'm co-directing a children's show) I had crazy takes for the Eagles and Penn State. Gonna keep it going this year. PSU will go undefeated but we won't know if we're actually any good until round 2 of the playoffs because of our dogshit schedule...

...if we don't win the national championship this year, I say we fire Franklin, snatch Bill O'Brien away from Boston College and go 8-4 (but with IMMACULATE vibes) for the next 30 years.

... BUT! Twist! In Round 1 of the playoffs we'll face James Franklin's Virginia Tech, who will also go undefeated but not know if they're any good because of their equally dogshit schedule. My prediction: we beat the Fighting Franklins handily then get our Nittany asses whooped in Round 2...

Not really a fan of the way college football has become a quasi-pro mercenary league over the last decade because it robs schools of their tradition and character. But a 56-yard gain ending in penalties and a missed medium-range field goal against Temple? That's Penn State football baybeee!

Going to a wedding tonight. Before we left the house, I held my beautiful wife in my arms, looked into her eyes and said the same ten words I've said before every wedding we've attended since our own..."If there's a raw bar I'm going to embarrass you."

My room temp and correct take on tipping is that if you make a comfortable living you tip servers always and you tip them well because who the fuck do you think you are

I hated QR codes when they came out and still do. Make a short URL. It takes less time to type in a 10 character URL than it does to open your camera app and focus it right, and you still get just the same mad when it doesn't work

I love when my city gets weird. This is so much more quintessentially American than that sad spectacle in DC and Franklin himself would have fucking LOVED it

Latecomers — men and women dressed like the famed Founding Father — walked through the crowd to the front. It wasn’t a catwalk, per se, but the Franklin stroll. 🔗 www.inquirer.com/news/philade...

mad how the defining cultural image of Steamboat Willie is Mickey whistling and driving the boat, and not the bit where he plays a pig's nipples as a musical instrument while it shrieks in pain

Watched the first three episodes of The Bear season 5 then wanted something a little less stressful so I jammed sewing needles under all my fingernails and read the Wikipedia article about SIDS.

I'm having a pedagogical crisis. Teaching multiple courses of Summer School & one curriculum left for me includes a "Primary vs. Secondary Sources" activity with paired stories about a given topic. Students are supposed to determine which is primary and which is secondary. Fair enough. BUT! BUT!!!

All of the "primary sources" are written by the teacher who created the assignment! For example, there's a "diary entry" from someone who witnessed the destruction of Pompeii, but it's not a REAL historical diary entry it was written by the teacher. THAT'S STILL A SECONDARY SOURCE RIGHT???

I pride myself on being an extremely adventurous eater but what the fuck is the deal with wheat beer??? The first time I had one I thought I'd been pranked. Wheat beer has a stench that I can feel radiate through my sinuses. Belgians should be banned from brewing beer under the Geneva Convention.

Tomato Pie is revolting and Philly should be ashamed of it. (If you don't know what Philly-area Tomato Pie is, just imagine you take all the ingredients for a Sicilian pizza and just do the worst things imaginable with them)

Here I invite you to be a micro-heretic. To bring small shame on your people. Tell me about a highly praised thing in your hometown/area that all locals LOVE except YOU. I’m from the Seattle area. Taco Time is nothing special. Bland. Not horrible but not worth going out of your way. Now you go!
