“[Trump’s] random brain firings.”

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

I recommend people read this to get a sense of the president's grave cognitive impairment. Trump is either unwilling or unable (or maybe both) to answer the questions he's actually asked, so he just rants and raves while the interviewers do their best to provide structure to his random brain firings

The chassis is bent. Shoulda been totaled after the first crash.

Charlotte Clymer@charlotteclymer.bsky.social

Gavin Newsom is basically an overrated sports car. Really pretty on the outside and capable of top speeds. But the fuel efficiency is terrible. So is the handling. So is the maintenance. Looks really cool in a movie but it's completely impractical as your everyday ride. This will become clearer.

“The Gelded Era,” soon, maybe?

Tom Smothers@tsmothers.bsky.social

Remember this is the Billionaires Gilded Age and we are operating under Mar-a-Largo Rules where greed, graft and going for the big buck $ is the name of the game!

So @nbcnews.com your national newscast has devolved into the breathless replay of a scroll of titillating social media video? You spent 90 seconds on shock video of a wildfire in Utah yet gave zero details about where the fire was, or is headed, or the upcoming weather? Do better.

“MASSIVE Voter Turnout”

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

For years, Hungary's Viktor Orban gerrymandered his opposition out of power. But in the end, all the dirty tricks in the world couldn't save him from sinking approval ratings and massive voter turnout. There's a lesson here for us.

Hegseth is “a vacuous mishmash of hormones and neurotransmitters.”

The Shallow State@ourshallowstate.bsky.social

1/5 Anyone watching Pete Hegseth testify with an open mind, will readily see that he's a caricature. He has delusions that he's starring in an action movie. He is arrogant and ignorant and speaks as if what's good and what's right are not even complex subjects, or debates borne of perspective.

“Well, if you don’t own a boat, man, I don’t know what to tell ya”

Joshua Erlich@joshuaerlich.bsky.social

an underrated, unforgivable belief that remains prevalent among pols and normies is that a rising tide lifts all boats when it’s been clear forever that a rising tide simply drowns the people on low lying land

Wild that Altman is being sued by his sister for repeated sexual abuse and that doesn’t come up in basically every conversation about him. I get that it’s alleged but if that shit was happening to someone else I feel like that would come up, particularly if that person had a history of lying a lot.

@schumer.senate.gov : The only place where running up an impeachment effort hinders the mid-terms is in your obsolete mental model of political strategy. Make Congress GOP vote & whip them with it. Americans are already there, pal. You gotta get onboard. Don’t reinforce your reputation as a fossil.

If they’re talking about, the calls are working! Here’s call script. I’m calling to support a privileged resolution to the impeach the president. Not only because he is mentally and morally unfit to for the office, but to make every Republican publicly defend his recent conduct.

The authors of the Constitution wholly relied on the assumption of good-faith, rational actors in national office, especially POTUS, SCOTUS, and Congressional leadership. That assumption has now failed. No better argument for putting “originalism” on the ash-heap.

Stunningly incompetent, shockingly ignorant, staggeringly immoral, shamefully unethical, surprisingly transparent.

Hegseth: "Israel has clear missions as well for which we are grateful. Capable partners are good partners, unlike so many of our traditional allies who wring their hands and clutch their pearls, hemming and hawing about the use of force ... no stupid rules of engagement."

Re_the classic story: a young revolutionary politics scholar was sipping his cappuccino at a table on the promenade when suddenly throngs of people ran by down the street. He jumped up, his friend ask,s “where are you going?” He says, “to find out where they are going, so I can lead them!”

Their only path forward (cough “Noem”) is to increase the violence (cough “Miller” cough) to prove their ‘righteousness’ (cough cough “Trump”)

Eric Holthaus@ericholthaus.com

I just watched two women get kidnapped right in front of me in Northeast Minneapolis. ICE is still terrorizing our city.

One of two things must be true: Either Noem had, or had not, asked to see the video before unspooling her agitprop. Not sure which is worse, but doesn’t matter. Either is case-dispositive of her astonishing, willful evil.
