For the last month the buses I use seem to have decided on the most batshit diversions possible. Just spent 15 minutes going completely the wrong way and, somehow, stopping at every stop that's not actually on the route. Driving me mad.

Being from SE London I've met a fair few Millwall fans over the years, some of whom loudly declared that they were friendly, decent people. Pretty much every single one has ended up trying to start a fight. I'm sure decent Millwall fans exist, I've just never met one. Only aggressive, bigoted pricks

My wife bought new salad cutlery and because of the weird number of arms on the fork my first impulse was "that's AI". Which of course doesn't make sense because I was holding the object in my hands.

I had not some across this before, but if you want an example Nathan Cofnas’ scholarship, this is a doozy. Again I say, being sacked is not the problem; being recruited in the first place is what deserves scrutiny.

Look at me, exploring things.

📢 In this week's blog post, Dylan Orchard explores an important question: Is AI in higher education really inevitable? Read the full blog: buff.ly/U9KeGHe #HigherEducation #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #DigitalEducation #EdTech

I was on a podcast talking about AI and resistance, so that's a nice thing.

As always with anything I've said on any kind of 'formal' stage I completely block it out the moment I've said it, so the release of a podcast I recorded a month or two ago is as much of an adventure for me as anyone else who listens. Hopefully worth a listen though. sayyesdono.com/2026/07/16/a...

One thing I've noticed about my PhD is that spending most of your time, every day, thinking about a thing makes you really unsure whether you ever actually think about a thing or actually know anything about it.

Proud to say I had some minor involvement in this but all credit to everyone from We & AI and beyond who did the real work.

On the one-year anniversary of EMPIRE OF AI, I am so, so excited to announce The AI Resist List, a new project that documents examples of resistance to the AI empires around the world 😍 airesistlist.org

Good, but also depressing that not signing a contract with the anti-Christ doomsday cult surveillance company ends up being seen as a real win. Our base line is subterranean.

They’re going to call you Stalin no matter what you do, so why not just do some good things that people actually like rather than burning up every last atom of public goodwill trying to impress people who hate you.

Project I'm working, please do share if you know anyone who might be interested.

While it's going to be a bit flexible the deadline for submissions to the anti-AI anthology I'm working on is coming up soon so definitely time to get things in if you're interested. Prose, poetry + visual art are all welcome. Feel free to share too. sayyesdono.com/anti-ai-anth...

To be fair this is an excellent reaction to being called out. Next time any editor questions my stuff I will immediately 'launch an investigation' too.

Way to instantly kill any theoretical credibility you might've had. The author, Steven Rosenbaum, tries to downplay this but the details make it clear this is a massive and disgusting error.

I love reading beyond all other forms of cultural experience but I always forget just how easily effected I am by it. Any halfway decent book ends up being a reality I struggle to escape, for better or worse.

The data center rebellion is just the start, or it should be. Rather than impeding AI governance, this is where good, truly democratic AI governance begins. A look at who's fighting data centers, why, and how a working class resistance can lay the groundwork for a better AI politics:

Good article which happily takes the right approach to the hype - reporting it and then letting the weight of criticism grind it into nothingness. A lot of it could easily transfer to counter the Doomer narratives around AI too - idle talking points which ignore real, immediate harms.

Usually, when I get interviewed for a piece on something like "AI consciousness" I am relegated to the skeptics box --- some short paragraph near the end. So it is a nice change to see this piece by @hollybaxter.bsky.social Short 🧵>> www.the-independent.com/tech/ai-news...
