I think there's some truth to this. Chow's campaign knew that to win they needed to get non-wealthy suburban voters on side - and they did, strongly. Downtown progressives were going to be on board no matter what.

It's very possible I saw Chow's campaign as flawed because it wasn't pandering to me. And why would it? They have to know people like me (older lefties who reliably vote) are in the bag.

That was quite the leap into the unknown! But there weren't many letters left (Monday October 26) Wordle 1,955 4/6* ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜ ⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Turnover at a glance: Nunziata –> Padovani Perks –> Chan McNally Saxe –> Layton Moise –> Stikuts Fletcher –> Ehrhardt Bradford –> Erskine-Smith Myers –> Chen Other than the loss of Myers, this is going to be a pretty strong Council for Chow.

Pleased with my deduction, but I picked the wrong one of the two options I thought of! (Sunday October 25) Wordle 1,954 3/6* ⬜🟩⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

LOL I didn't think that would actually be the solution! It was just to narrow things down. Quite the jump. (Friday October 23) Wordle 1,952 3/6* ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟨⬜⬜🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Again, this is on the Liberal government for allowing the sale in the first place. Stelco was profitable, and it was obvious it would not be a priority for an American owner.

“In effect, Mr. Goncalves paid $2.5-billion to prevent Stelco exporting into the American market. Why, after all, allow more efficient Canadian steel to compete with Cleveland-Cliffs’s pricier American steel when it can just pay to restrict supply?” www.theglobeandmail.com/business/com... #cdnpoli

Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

Glad to see that, despite a disturbing number of Bradford signs, Chow is comfortably ahead in my Ward 14.

Not an ai apocalypse doomer or whatever, but entering a world where the normal operation of cybersecurity is vast swarms of hacker bots battling vast swarms of defender bots 24/7 at a scale beyond human comprehension doesn't seem like a *great* path forward.

Toronto introduced these two decades ago, but still not at all major intersections, and often not maintained.

It’s always inspiring seeing what other cities do to make streets safer. In Paris, it’s impossible not to notice the ubiquitous zebra crossings that help give pedestrian priority on side roads. I’m delighted we’re working with Dept Transport to start trialing these at scale in London.

So different than 2012 when Jarvis was removed. Handful of people on street during removals (including @fuzzywuzzyto.bsky.social who layer in front of the remover). Far bigger & diverse cycling community now. Fucking w a different beast now.
